Ok so i realise there are tonnes of posts on this subject but everyone that i have tried in those posts doesn't work. Basically everythings ready i just can't seem to get windows to let me boot with my SATA cable plugged into the drive.

I have tried:

360 on, Sata plugged in - Start PC, It just hangs on the windows loading page and then starts and stops.

360 on, sata not plugged in. Start PC then plug in at boot options. Again same as above.

360 on, sata not plugged in start PC then plug in at XP loading screen. Same as above.

360 on, sata not plugged in. Wait till XP is loading and i'm at the desktop, then plug in. It just proceeds to freeze then start and stop.

I've tried both sata ports, no luck. I was just hoping someone might have something else for me to try.

Textbook i read that you did the shorting the two wires for modeb at the xp loading screen on xbox scene, do you think this could work for me?

I have latest drivers 540a and i don't have the raid config utilty installed.

Cheers :)

Is your drive in modeB? Two presses of the eject to close the try, and then one more to keep it closed? Or if you press it twice and not a third time, it opens again? It the ring of light flashing green?

If so, the two wire method wont change anything.

Have you tried another sata cable?

If so, you're in the same boat that i was with a v59 and the same chipset. I could not get it to work and ended up buying a sil3112 chipset. It was detected on the first boot and flashed with no issues.

sorry i meant that i shorted the the drive to get it into mode bwith the two pins and a wire, thats what i meant by two wire. Yeah its in mode because it blinked and it takes 2 presses to eject put back in. I haven't tried another sata cable but i have already flashed a samsung with the SATA cable i am using so i'm sure its ok.

TBH i think i'm in the same boat as you as that I'm not gonna be able to flash it. Looks like if i want to I'm gonna have to get another card then. Which one do you recommend? thanks very much for your reply. i don't normally post because i don't like to waste peoples time with questions that have already been answered.

Cheers

I used a silicon image 3112 chipset. They are readily available on all kinds of sata controllers and you can find the fairly cheap at most retailers.

You could try doing the two-wire during the loading screen with your sata cable connected to the primary port on the card (internal, closest to the front of the pc)

both ports are situated next to each other, would you mean the closest to the motherboard?

Dont know if this will work for you but yesterday i had a hitachi 59 drive that would not get past the windows loading bar. I found that if i unpluged the sata cable from the back of the 360, turned on the 360 and once the windows loading screen came up I plugged the cable back into the 360 it would work. Hope this helps you out.

ok so i got a new card, which says on the box is a 3112 and on the chip but in fact when i put it in and install the drivers, windows installs 3512, or if i find new drivers windows keeps saying its a sataraid controller and won't give me a choice to have it as a satalink and all the choices are 3512.

I have forcefully installed 3112 drivers and 3512 satalink drivers but they will not work.

I have the drive in modeb and its recognized in windows but i can only get so far flashing it. This is what i get:

Move the X-LG folder to the C: drive, try flashing again, but use a different #### instead of 9999.

Has anyone got that chipset to work with a 59DJ drive? I have exactly the same problem, I can get it into mobe b fine with either slax or the xecuter conectivity kit but windows wont recongise it. My sata card has worked with 49 and 78FK H+L drives and ms28 ones just not this one.

Mine is recognized now in XP because i had to buy a Sil chipset. Unfortunately after just checking the chip on the pci card it is a Sil3512 not a sil3112 as he stated on ebay. i am currently in contact with him over this, let put it this way, i better get a bloody replacement.

Xp recognizes the drive but i think that because it is in sataraid instead of satalink that this is why i can't flash it. Cheers for the replys, and hopefully i'll be posting in the next few weeks with new card and a successful flash. Thanks
