HITACHI 79 Hitachi 79 error

I have a xbox 360 phat with hitachi 79 I flashed today as it was on old fw did dash 147 update the flashed back to 2.0b now hardly any games work some originals do some dont is it a laser job or is it the fw buggy i no lt3.0 isnt done yet just wondering anyone else having probs with this drive

Definitely sounds like its a laser issue! The flashing process for Hitachi drives is mostly automated therefore I would say it's less likely to be an issue with your flash.

Try flashing back to stock and test the original game discs that didnt' work, but again I would say you need a new laser!

Did the games play before the flash?

if some orignals do and some dont then id also say a laser issue.. dont bother with pot tweaking just go and buy a new HD63 laser replacement there cheap as chips

Thanks yes the games did work before flash I was wondering do you have to take it out of mode b after flash or does it just come out of mode b when removing the drive? Also replacing the laser on hitachi is there any soldering involved?

When you power cycle the drive, it comes out of mode b automatically.

There's an anti-static solder blob on the laser which needs a soldering iron to remove, however most sellers will remove this for you (either for free or a small fee).

Thanks I'll order a new Lens just tried gears of war 3 original and backup both work fine tried mw3 original and backup and get disk not reconized tried FIFA 06 original dirty disk error FIFA world cup Germany play DVD also tried pes 2010 working would a bad laser still play some games just wondering before I hit th buy now button also I now these games work as they work on my slim and old elite

Remember that If you have any XGD3 backups which were not burned correctly (ie truncated), they will not work with Hitachi drives.

Wow just got working I ordered A laser but will take a couple of days so I thought i would try a few things I greased the rails didn't do nothing so I removed The drive motor I had a old spare hitachi so removed the drive motor out of that and swapped them over bingo tried all my games and there working fine the drive is really quiet now aswell all xdg3 working aswell I have a new laser coming so will throw that in that spare hitachi drive and grab another drive motor and get that Spare drive running one of mY boys new games Lego batman 2 Is asking for an update would it be ok to update? My dash is 147 thanks for help guys

All updates are currently fine. Flash back to stock before updating though.
