From my lengthy amount of research (feel like days), I have come to the understanding that my Hitachi 79 does not do AP25 checks. What I have been unable to narrow down is clear and concise answers to a few questions.

1) Since my drive doesn't do AP25 checks, does this mean I can play XGD3 games with topology data which are patched for LT3.0?
2)Do I need to patch LT3.0 games to LT2.0...b/c I thought my drive doesnt even look for ap25 data so it wouldnt matter...?
3) All in all what does the lack of ap25 checking mean for me and burning xgd2 and xgd3 games......

to be fair, you have to be willing to risk an AP2.5 failure on your xbox in order to see if you have an AP2.5 free xbox...

so many people shy away from even attempting it

to answer the OP's question

if your drive doesn't do AP2.5 checks, it doesn't matter what AP2.5 patches you have on there, it won't look at them anyway

According to C4eva's website...

"79 – 4b00 – self-tested with AC:B that had NO AP25 sector.
Drive confirmed to NOT perform AP25 checks."

Through Jungle Flasher I have confirmed that I have a 4b00.....

DONT HATE ME BUT.....
I recently burned a Dishonored iso (truncated without an iHAS) which was fully patched with all the latest using agbx. When I went to play it in my Hitachi it said "Play Game" and threw me a dirty disk error after a lengthy black screen. Thought maybe I failed an AP25 check so I used Xval and it threw me a clean sec....

HELP? EXPLAIN?

Was it just a bad burn?

Can I burn games with any topology data made for LT3.0 since my drive supposedly doesn't even look at it or AP25 Data?

Check your lasers ohm's. I have had several Hitachi's not read backups but read retail games fine. Adjusting laser (POT Tweak) got them reading backups fine.
spot on most hitachi drives ive done have needed it doing and the odd benQ

Last question....

Since my 79 doesn't supposedly do ap25 checks, if I burn a XGD3 game patched to LT3.0 with an ihas 524b....will it run and can I play online?

Even though it isn't on LT3.0, it shouldnt look at the topology data anyways, or the replay data......iso should really need to be patched down to LT2.0 right?

Reason I ask.....if C4eva releases the 3.0 update I wont need to reburn every game and waste all those verbs ;)

what it comes down to for me is just simply: does my hitachi 79 4boo do ap25 checks?

can anyone help here is my case:

So i updated an old xbox my first one and I havent used it in ages. [shld be still using my liteon xbox with 3.0 but it sadly passed away, rrod, couple of weeks ago :( ]

-the first thing i did was i played an old old backup of nba 2k10, and ac brohood and the hit drive played it, (didnt get one of those black screens, or error messages.)
-then i checked xval and got.........sec data clean
-after i updated with usb to the latest dash
-then after updating i played the backup once more, and i still didnt get that black screen or error message that other users say you should get.
-checked xval again and still sec data clean..
-and that leaves me to where i am now, should i be rejoicing that it does/doesnt have ap25 checks on it lol?

btw i have a hitachi 4b00 2007 model
is the only to know with a definite result of your drive checking for ap25 is to actually play on xbox live? or update through internet instead through usb?
