Heya,

Appologies if there is a thread about this issue already, but I could not find it by searching.

I tried flashing my drive today and it didn't go to well. I tried booting slax 2.0 alpha and it says it puts the drive in mode b, but when I reboot the PC it doesn't find my OS anymore, for some reason it doesn't want to boot of the HDD. So I tried slax 2.1 and it sticks at "spinning up drive", I can't eject the drive, neither could I eject it with 2.0 alpha. I could not get any of the signs of mode b to show. :-/

My SATA card is SiL 3112 based, could it somehow be configured in some stupid RAID-mode? I looked in the cards manual and there is no way to change it, there's supposed to be a menu but's not available for some reason, and the only thing the manual says the menu can do is create and destroy RAID-arrays.

The hitachi drive is a 47DJ one. I'm guessing it's something with the SATA-card and that I need to either get another one or one of the connectivity kits. Which of the connectivity kits are the better one?

I bought the Xecuter Connectivity Kit and it gave me the same problem, somehow the SATA controller card takes over and prevents the HDD from booting. I'm not sure what's up, I ended up installing Windows on my main workstation and used that. Worked like a charm.

Yea I think your best bet is to find a friend who has onboard sata and try theirs.

Also I think the only reason the sata controller will be in a raid configuration is if you have more than one hard drive.. Do you?

Make sure your drivers on your SATA card is updated... mine would get get stuck at the loading bar until I updated the drivers.
