The DL10N DVD Rom is busted (PCB should be ok). I can retrieve the DVD key if required.
What would my best course of action be to get the xbox back to a working DVD ROM? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

What is the issue?

If the PCB is fine, you could put it in a new Hitachi chassis.
I purchased this xbox so don't have history, the seal was intact so the xbox has never been opened. Putting in an original xbox360 game I get a couple of different results. One case is that it says the disk is not recognised, the other is it behaves as if the game is put in a standard DVD player, don't remember the exact wording but basically tells me that this disk should be put in an xbox360. The tray is also fairly loose when fully ejected, possibly someone damaged it when the tray was extended hence causing the issue or it could have been a frustrated hand trying to wiggle it after it was busted.

Cheers

Thanks, will try the tutorial on this site to do the pot-tweak.

If the drive needs to be replaced can you still spoof the DVD key to another drive? Does it have to be the same drive?

My assumption is I would need the same drive with unlocked PCB to spoof the DVD key.

Before doing any pot tweaking try gently cleaning the surface of the laser with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol in a circular motion and if that doesnt work try the pot tweak. if the pot tweak doesnt work just replace the laser there should be no need to replace the entire drive unless it refuses to eject .....the issues you are describing are laser issues with the not reading properly and the loose tray is a broken tab inside the drive that should not affect its use :)

If you replace the drive just swap over the boards and you don't need to worry about dvd keys or anything like that.
