I have a Hitachi drive with an 360 manufacture date of March 11, 2006. I had heard that the Hitachi drives overheat if flashed, so does that mean I'm not able to flash my drive? Also, if this is true, can I change out my dvd drive for one that is easier to flash or doesn't overheat?

TIA

There is no, as far as am aware, evidence to support the rumours that flashing causes any drive let alone the Hitachi to overheat.

Two hacked Hitachi 360's here (one of 'em over a year old) and both are going strong here. No heat issues at all.

I play my back-up games for hours on end and my xbox has never froze and/or overheated. Still running strong. Hitachi 59dj here
