HITACHI NON-79 Hitachi-LG DVD Drive GDR-3120L

Good Day Everyone,

I have about 40+ original games I want to backup but I want to know if the Hitachi-LG DVD Drive GDR-3120L drive can be used to backup games? I saw there is no 0800 firmware available? Also, can this be done without the XBOX360 PRO USB and with an normal external MUKii TransImp U3?

You really could do with using a Benq or a Liteon as an 0800

The reason why I ask, I don't have a DVD key for that drive, I only want to use it for backups. So it won't work without 0800 firmware?

no it will not work with 0800 FW as there is no 0800 FW for it

you also need an x360usb pro or a COMPATIBLE via card or onboard sata

as this is a TX product support forum, you would only receive support or suggestions with TX products, so yes you need an x360USB pro

You could use the old F900 Core Firmware and patch using abgx360.

That should work for non XGD3

Great, so to confirm, XGD3 can be backuped with a stock replacement GDR-3120L drive without my DVD key, as I don't have a spare one

As I can read, a DVD key is only used when you replace your drive in the console to play games.

you still need a dvd key on the drive so you can set it up to rip

as seen in this bit

Not all OEM drives support every XBC feature and the drive key must be known.
In the drive specific options you can set the drive key or if you have used
JungleFlasher then XBC can automatically pull the drive key from JF.

Sometimes the drives are finicky especially the hitachi's; reset, try again.

as long as you run the rip through ABGX afterwards (and before burning) you should be able to use the Hitachi...did say should

As per "talby71" suggestion, my Hitachi OEM drive is working well, PLEASE NOTE, DVDKEY MUST BE KNOWN, otherwise it WILL FAIL!!!

Will this work using the x360usb pro v1

Yes it would work on a phat lite-on/benq flashed with 0800 firmware. It would even work with any drive flashed with LT+ but your rip would be missing key data. Just have to pass them trough abgx.(assuming that you have your dvd key)
