The GDR-H10N is a hitachi sata dvd-rom that was recently released for PC's. Thanks to Team MODFREAKz excellent and continuing work, he has taking high-res photos of the board and disovered that these drives are nearly identical to the v78 Hitachi drive found in the 360. He also dumped the firmware and it is somewhat similar. This drive could potentially be a replacement or another kreon type drive.
After some testing, he found the tray status leads and tested it in a 360 console. He found that the original firmware (not 360 firmware) worked in a 360 console - it played movies but did not play games (no key in firmware). When flashed with v78 firmware, it did not function at all. It appears as though this drive will potentially be a cheap replacement ($20 US or so) once a working firmware is created (hopefully by GaryOPA).
Soldering will need to be done to the board to make this drive work with your 360's power source but i am sure we will soon see a proper pinout. I have purchased one of these drive to play around with and will post some pictures once i recieve it.
A note to all - this drive currently is not a replacement, it is a work in progress. Do not go out and buy them. If you ever need to buy a replacement drive - keep this in mind. Take a look and check for updates, as you may save yourself some money if TMF and crew get it working properly.
Thanks again for the excellent work TMF and for the photos above!!! Always appreciated.
