:!:

Hitachi 0059DJ 3120-L
Orginal 4,500 OHMS dropped to 3,100 OHms

Ok well This Is for us Hitachi owners. As far as I know Samsung do not have the read problems with Backups like other brands.

I have No NME chip just a Flashed Drive with the latest xtreme as of 4/12/2007.

My Backups Worked for an hour then would freeze or drop out on loading screens.Dirty discs errors.

If you have these Problems and a Hitachi drive. This fix is probally for you.

Well heres the problem basically. The laser Wave length on these drives is to high for the range on DVD-DL+R discs to fix this you basically find a happy medium.Where both discs can be read flawlessly.

So what do you need to fix your Hitachi drive. Well First you need a Multi meter.Basically you need to put the Negative and Positive leads on the 2 solder points on the top part where the arrows point.Dont worry if you mixed em up thell show in -ohms and you see the needle moving down or on LED ones it will say like -045.0 instead of 045.0

On the little dial Adjust until 3,100 OHMS Is what I suggest.[The Dial on the DVD Laser] Not the Multimeter dial.

Well I havent tested other Hitachi drives. But this seems to count for all Hitachi Drives except 0078k Drives. And From what I read Samsungs dont have these problems.

This should Fix any dirty discs issues with the Hitachi.
My games now play flawlessly.

I am also using ridata DVD-DL discs.

All work so good now ^^

My worst game Fight night 3 would freeze every 5 mins now it plays perfect.

Anyways if your having read errors please read up on this subject.

A lot of media works with hitachi drive. The media compatability issue was mostly with older firmwares but your drive now allows more for the media to be read. It also depends on your burner as well. Some burners are more compatable then others. It is also probably worth it to buy more expensive media as less expensive, harder to read media (although it may still work) could potentially reduce the laser lifespan in your dvd-rom.

i thought you could only use DVD+R DL because DVD-R DL doesnt support a custom layerbreak.

as far as I know the 0078 has a different tutorial but the same wave length thing of the laser applies.

Are you having these issues. xbox scene has it in the tutorials section.

Not one error since ive done this. And my games load faster! ^^

As far as I can tell the backup dvd-R DL cd's have a lower wave length reading then what xbox is set to.

Which is why the read problems occur.

Adjusting your laser eye will fix 99% of read errors.

Its prob not your media I use no name brands and read fine since adjusting the laser.

The Samsung and Phillips have there own tutorials as well
