What I did:
Downloaded: KNOPPIX V6.0.1 (linux) and burned onto a bootable CD. http://torrent.unix-ag.uni-kl.de/

Steps:
- Insert the bootable Knoppix disk, have computer powered off, xbox powered off but drive connected via SATA.
- turn on ONLY COMPUTER, boot from cd and run the linux
- After linux is loaded to desktop, turn on 360 - wait 20secs
- Exit linux and select reboot option.
- During reboot when asked to remove linux disk, replace with SLAX and allow it to reboot (with xbox remaining on and plugged in still).

Thats it. SLAX will now see the drive again for some reason and run! The drive will again show up in My Computer!

I am trilled I got it to work, and a friend also had success. Please try this out and post results!

@newgen2005 if you have a hitachi that's bricked, give it a go. Nothing to lose.

I'm trying to brick a 59 pcb I found around the house but can't get it to mess up :p Guess, i will have to use FW toolbox and Vista...aka the bricking combo.

Noumes, allow me to buy you a cyberbeer if this works..

haha, sure hope it does. I was determined to get my drive from the 'unfixable' state back yesterday.

I had a bricked one but I sent it away for exchange, would loved to have tried it :(

cool! mad kudos, did you successfuly get the drive working again ?(unbricked, drive key, tray open/closes etc..)

PLZ JUST MY EXPERINCE ONLY:

tried it , didnt work for me, did it on my intel hcipset PC and another the one i use to mod with the via chipset, also gave it a try on wifes pc with nforce chipset, no go....

anyone tried this yet with any SUCCESS/FAILURE results.. or is this a bluff
LOL BTW: Noumes you owe me 12 cents plus 19 cents for burning a blank cd and light bill LOLOLOL it diddnt work

I've got a bricked hitachi 59DJ so I've got nothing to lose, hopefully this unbricks my drive.

edit: so after the drive appears in windows, what do I do? reflash it?

I bricked my 59DJ last night, did a spoof to a benq drive...so I'll try this with the original 59dj and see if I can revive it...my biggest problem was it wouldn't eject...

I bricked it because it froze in Jungleflasher flashing bank 0.

I'll try this tutorial...thanks for the info.

anyone got a direct link besides a torrent for that KNOPPIX V6.0.1? I tried a google search but theres no direct links...

Can anyone put it on rapidshare or MU?

Why do you need a direct link? The torrent works just fine... not like it worked anyway lol.

his drive wasn't truely bricked....... that's why it worked for him....

don't waste your time trying this cause it won't work if your drive is
truely bricked.....

there is no way to recover the drive unless you pull the tsop chip and
reprogram it.
