Re: HITACHI UNBRICK SUCCESS - No hardware, appears in window

Well I am unclear what happened with my drive. I went to read the firmware with jungle flasher but then it didn't fully read it then it couldn't read it anymore and when i restarted i could not eject the dvd tray and it no longer works.

does the Hitachi usually brick during the flash itself? I'll assume there is no error when simply dumping/reading the current firmware?

it won't brick just dumping the firmware... you have to be writing to the drive and have something go wrong like your system freeze or a failed write attempt.....

Ah good stuff - so you've always got the failsafe of having the key etc....so you can spoof something in it's place?

Yeah i would be stupid not to back up my key. I got a spare drive off a friend.

If i just replace the PCB on the drive will that fix it?

his drive wasn't truely bricked....... that's why it worked for him....

don't waste your time trying this cause it won't work if your drive is
truely bricked.....

there is no way to recover the drive unless you pull the tsop chip and
reprogram it.
right! thats is why im gonna send you my drive.. lol.. take care...

Re: HITACHI UNBRICK SUCCESS - No hardware, appears in window

i had an idea. this may or may not work. i do not know much, just throwing some thoughts out there to see what people think.

Is it possible for someone like team xecuter to produce a product kind of like the wiiclip?, but more to flash the TSOP without desoldering it. Those external programmers cost a lot because it programs all types of chips. i was thinking something small. clip onto the TSOP, have someone write a small program GUI, or even a DOS script and we're back in business. is it possible??
