for whomever is having unrecognizable disc errors, please note whether or not you are using truncated backups

my hitachis are struggling to read truncated discs

simple things you should check with kprobe

XGD3 Quality Benchmarks (per TX and C4):
PI MAX should be 100 or less & PI Average should be 5 or less
PIF MAX should be 4 or less & PIF Average should be 0.20 or less
Nero Discspeed score of 90 or better.

also i've never gone lower than 3.0 ohms becareful and always install games to hdd, bye tweaking you laser it will die faster don't use except to install games.
I ran KProbe2 on the remaining XGD3 backup that would not work on my Hitachi v59 after pot tweaking and I got the following results:

Date : 11/29/2011 8:40:57 PM
Model : 3-0-2-0 ATAPI iHAS124 B AL0S
Disc : DVD+R DL , MKM001 [Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation]
Speed : Max
ECC blocks sum (PI/PIF) : 8/1
Scanned range : 0 - 4267008
Sampling count : 248972
Errors : 0
PI Max : 170
PI Average : 21.36
PI Total : 667495
PIF Max : 3
PIF Average : 0.05
PIF Total : 1491

I also ran Nero Discspeed and got a Quality Score of 93
Do these results indicate a bad burn?

None of my XGD3 backups are truncated.

rerun you test at 4x. should get better results. they way it was explained to me was test at speed your burned at, right after burning so the disc was still pristine ( no scratches or finger prints )

Thanks for the info. The Verbatim DVD+R DL MKM 001 that I used were burned at 2.4X as recommended. I will re-run the test at that speed.

so unless you have the new burner and firmware your still in the same boat as LT1.1 ?? is that right

mine work super fine on the liteon with Lt2.0 just updated the hitachi Fifa12 XDG2 works fine but GOW3 xdg3 is unreadable goes to start then stops along with Assasins etc

hopefully you can confirm this cheersy
i went back and looked at the nfo with the 2.0 release and pulled this ( Support for XGD3 ixtreme backups using LT-MAX for maximum capacity on standard DVD+R DL discs.) i could be wrong but looks like it might not support truncated backups. can any one confirm this?

what i meant by spoof was after you dump you ofw and open the hacked firmware you have to hit the button ( spoof source to target ) to auto spoof the drive which will place your key in the hacked firmware tab before you write it to the drive

not much more i can tell you atari? my max is generally between 200 and 220 ,but my average is only 10 to12. i use cheapo crap disc burning at 4x. i never play from the disc always install the generally slow down at 45 to 65 percent on the install but after that i do fine.

Atari

Did the game work ? or another fail
On the Hitachi v59 that I'm currently working on, three of the four backups are now working after the pot tweak. There is still one backup that is still not working. I'm not sure if I want to adjust the pot much lower to get it to work as that may cause the laser to burn out quicker. I'm trying to determine if this last disc is still unreadable because it was a poor quality burn or not. If all of these XGD3 backups were poor quality burns then maybe the pot tweaking was not necessary.

I still have not adjusted the pot of my Hitachi v78. I don't want to adjust it if it's the quality of the burns that are causing the problem.

I followed the directions included with the LT MAX on how to burn with Img Burn. So I'm wondering how the burns could be bad.

the 1 game that won't work on the 59 will it boot on the 78? is this the reburned game from you kprobe stats? could it be a bad rip, not the burn? banging my head looking for anything at this point:duh::duh::duh::duh::duh::duh::duh::duh::duh::confused:

At this point, this particular backup doesn't work on both the 59 and 78. I don't want to start messing with the pot of the 78 until I've ruled out bad burns or bad rips. The games do work on my Liteon 0251 with LT+ 2.0.

I've read some of the postings on c4evaspeaks.com that a lot of people are having problems with the Hitachi LT+ 2.0 reading their XGD3 backups.

make sure to download the newest imgburn, it is set up for lt burnermax. alos depending on your media you'll need to adjust how you burn and what settings to use. as i said i use cheapo disc and could not get it to burn a decent disc at 2.4x had to change the setting and believe or not burn disc at 4x heres a link to a guide for the 4x cheapo disc settings ( http://www.xboxhacker.org/index.php?topic=17430.0 )
