I'm using the newer Xtreme Boot Maker 0.5.3 (RC1) and I want to know if it is used in the same way as in Textbook's guide or is there something different?

It's basically the same process, XBM is a bit different and you use xRead and xFlash commands instead of SAMREAD and SAMHACK. Textbook is working on an update to his tutorial, for now you can find several at x-projects.org. One in particular should look very familiar. 
As long as you don't have Vista you could also download 0.3.6 in the Downloads section and follow along with Textbook's tutorial.

The problem with the newer version is that it's not booting up when I restart my computer..I cannot even type anything and it is set to boot only on USB. I'm going to try an older version.
