Hey guys... Got the 2 blue leds showing. This is where I'm at:

1) The dip switch module doesn't light up... but it seems to be communicating - because I flipped one too many dip switches one time and the chip just blinked. No harm done though - I switched it back and now it's fragging again.

2) If I hold down the power button - the unit comes up just fine to the regular xbox dash

3) If I tap the power button - it frags.

4) I've checked my points with a meter and everything checks out - even the D0 - I checked it from one side of the board to the other.

I have a 1.6 - samsung memory.

Any thoughts?

i would take a look at the control panel and see if there are any bent pins in the connectors.

if tapping makes it frag you have screwed up the LPC go redo all your solder

Ok found my problem... I pushed a few pins together where the control panel plugs in...

If I separate the pins... but don't plug the control panel in... (because I want to ALWAYS use my chip)... should it work? or do I NEED the control panel plugged in?

Thanks!

SO i just installed my x3 on a 1.0 box. All LED's light up ... BUT no video out of my composite.

I tried all types of booting and no video.... NE suggestions?

when I tap the power it actually powers on and off a few times then sounds like its booting but no video...aghhh.

Do i have to have the DVD hooked up for it to display video?

Ive tried with and without.

Ne suggestions? Could it really be as simple as checking my sodering?

Thanks!

No, I believe it should work just like normal without the little panel. However, it will always default to the first 1mb bank.

I'm not quite sure why you added this onto this thread instead of making your own, but I can tell you you are FRAGing among other things. I don't know why your video isn't working. Come to think of it, I have tested booting without the DVD and HDD before, but never on a TV. I don't know if you need it all in before it will show video. I don't think so though. I think all you need is the power and video cable hooked up.

Anyway, the turning on, then off a few times, then staying on is a FRAG. Look at the front panel light, it should be Flashing Red And Green, aka FRAG. That's usually an indication that you have a bad LPC solder, or it could (less commonly) be a situation like in this thread.

You know... for all those peoplel out there who believe they have installed the chip correctly... and swear they got the connections right... but it's still not working - I have a message for you.

It's probably the soldering!

I too didn't believe it, thought I had soldered it right, and something else was wrong.

After 10-12 checks and resolders - the flashbios came right up!

The lesson to all us noobs - read the boards, and listen... they are just about always right!

Thanks to everyone who helped me with my issues!
I'm not 100% "dashed" yet... but I'm flashed and ready to rock.

THANK YOU!

Haha, yeah, it can look really good, but you might still have a bad solder. The general rule is if you FRAG, check it all, and even if you don't see something, resolder it all again. I had to do my first mod 3 times before it worked right, even though it all looked ok.

If you are referring to the power/eject daughterboard adapter, the mod chip boots up ENABLED if this daughterboard is not connected. I was shipped a defective daughterboard and am currently awaiting a replacement. It works fine without it. I just can't boot with the long power press or the power/eject combo.

Same here... So: good luck!

As long as you use the right equipment, as many times as you need to. I do stress that 'right equipment' consists of a good low-voltage iron, desoldering braid, flux, etc.

Also, don't go pulling your Xbox apart unless you really have to - there's no need in making work for yourself.
