Hi,

I have a spare Xbox Elite which has been updated to the latest dashboard and is using LT+1.91.

I use my Slim xbox for LIVE and was thinking about using my elite for jtag/homebrew, but I have no idea where to start.

I know before you had to have a really old xbox and certain dashboard/kernal but I hear its all changed now.

To get me started can someone tell me:

1) How to tell if my Elite is compatible to be jtagged/homebrewed?
2) Is there soldering involved in homebrew and if so is it complicated?

Thanks and all help is greatly appreciated,

:)

1 - Your elite will be compatible with the new glitch, but, if you have updated anytime within the last year, then not with the JTAG. The only current motherboards not compatible with the new glitch are Xenons (Falcons are still waiting for a timing)

Also currently, no homebrew software can be used at the moment. People are working on it

2. There is quite a bit of soldering involved. It is not that complicated if you purchase the correct equipment, as it will come with header pins and all that jazz.

It gets complicated if you start making your own.

You will also have to wait for the NAND X addon if you are going to support TX.

see all the links below about glitch/JTAG and mobo's

Yes they are two different things...

But most people will call it the same thing. You will notice that a lot.

If you realize that the JTAG can only be done on old dashboard machines and not slims.

And the Glitch can be done on all including slims (Except Xenons)

But although they are different things they serve the same purpose, to allow you to run homebrew apps such as running games via external hardrive on your xbox.

At the moment, the glitch does not allow you to run solid homebrew at the moment.

And that is why i only told the OP that the difference was what machines can be done. There is no need to confuse the OP. He will see from the links provided that the outcome is the same.

We do not want people, coming along saying they have JTAG'ed their 60's, when they have actually done the glitch. Hence the importance of seperating the two
