I have an Hitachi drive (do not know version since no cracked case open yet but is a launch day UK 360).

In one of my PC's I have a Smasung DVDRW DL SATA drive.

If i understand right I can hot swap this with my 360 drive.

What is the exact procedure? Is it?

Open 360
disconnect sata cable
power up 360
boot PC into windows
pull SATA cable from back of samsung SATA DVDRW DL drive
put into 360 drive
flash

No, flashing refers to changing the firmware on your Hitachi to allow backups. Hotswapping is one of the ways you can make backups of real 360 discs, it has nothing to do with flashing.

You need to read Textbook's PDF tutorial, everything you need to know from flashing to backing up games is in there:

I did read it, look under the section "ModeB Method 4 – Hotswap", this is to what I refer to.

My bad, I thought you meant hotswap as far as copying games. The easiest way to do a Hitachi is the Slax CD IMO.

Using the VIA SATA card or should I just buy an Xecuter kit since I assume my drive will be one of the 1st since got it launch day so doubt it willl be one of theose 78 things. Also the Xecute kits are only about £15 from eBay same a s a SATA card
