how 2 access flash 3.03?

I have a 1.6b
i tried the banks 5 through 8
but comes up with flas 3.01
i need 3.03 for the 1.6b
is it poss the chip doesnt have it?
it is a new chip

Are u sure its a b?
B has Hynix ram...its the timing in this ram thats slightly different to the rest and hence 3.01 does not work.

However if you switch it on and get Flashbios screen 3.01 then i doubt its a 1.6b

If u get a flashbios screen then go ahead and just flash it with 3294 bios.
There is no need to change the flashbios version first

yes its a 1.6b
i can get it running with the 3.01 but its not
letting me in to x3 live,
i also have the lcd screen and front panel
so it would be nice to see it

what do u mean by get it running ?

So you can boot it to Flashbios 3.01...then can you flash the chip?
If you can flash it ...what bios file are you flashing to it and what switch settings are you using.

after a few attempts it would put the bios in but didnt switch off
so when booted up came on ok ,can play games
got avalaunch ok because it was installed prior to this x box
ive tried to flash banks 5-8 with 3.03
and tried flashing bios with bank 1234 1 meg x3 3294 v1.6plus
is it possible to install chip in older box and install 3.03

ok ...Flashbios 3.03 is 256k in size ..
I'm still not sure this is what u need if 3.01 works ok.

But if u wish to try
boot to Avalaunch...from the first 1M bank (1234) then u could put 3.03 on the last 256K bank on bank 8 (nothing gets corrupted that way)

boot up avalaunch and ftp 3.03 onto the hdd.
then boot into config live (press & hold white whilst booting)
select ....
Bios Tools
Flash Main Rom
Load Bios from C: (if thats where u put it)
browse for the bios and select with A
Save bios to Bank 8

Are you sure answer Y

Then when flashed u can try it by selecting bank 8 with the switches (off,off,off,on)

The problem is
i cant get into config live
tried with white button but nothing happens
thats why i need 3.03.
it will only load all bios with 3.03 on the 1.6b board
but with only having 3.01 it wont flash the 3.03

Can you boot backup? If so, do the same as sb122606 has suggested, but insead of booting to CL boot to your backup flashbios. From there you can also flash from the hdd. Make sure to set the switches to the last 256k bank before flashing though.
