Hi!I had dashboard 14699 and I wanted to update to 15574.I wrote the original firmware first, then I updated to the newest dashoard, and here comes the surprise...I wanted to wrote the lt+3.0 firmware, but as I knew, first i must unlock the winbond chip.I was able to write lt+3.0 WITHOUT unlocking the chip...How is that possible???Thanks

Because there's a chance MS is going to start checking to see if drives are unlocked when they shouldn't be. If they are, you get banned. They haven't started yet, but they might soon, better safe than sorry.

It's not about chances, more about how it should be!
As of system update 2.0.13146.0, slim 9504 drives are updated to 0272 ofw (all other phats do too, updated to 02510c, however this is not relevant in your case) and have wp (write protect) enabled in line with other slim drives, 0225, 0401 etc.
What others say here is correct tho, lock after write and IF any future updates check the spi status register, you are safe. Simple.
