The std Evox M8 plus 16 is a 06 BIOS - you will need to reformat F drive to gain the lost space however.

I have found 2 and they are both 07's (one was the standard off mIRC). I have re-formatted my hard disk and still creating G: drive

Is there a simple way to convert them using a hex editor?

Where are you getting the idea that these BIOSes are 07?? It's either going to be a 06 or a 67!

Open it in EVtool 1.0.9 and you'll see in the bottom corner it's already set to 'Partition 6 takes the rest of the drive'. If it does, then save the BIOS and reflash it.

BTW, when you format the F drive, what size are you getting?

Sorry, yes the BIOS is 67 (my mistake)

Can I change it to just 06 in this EVtool software then?

I am getting about a 130Gb F: drive from a 250Gb Hard Drive

Excellent, problem sorted, now made a 06 BIOS.

Thanks for your help you are a star.

No probs- For some reason, although the M8 BIOSes are default to 06, they only take the setting once you've opened it in EVtool and saved it again....

Is this LiteOn 74850 bricked?

I've read the FAQ, the sticky, and many threads. Yet I still think I have a unique situation.

I was following the JungleFlasher tutorial - which I've done successfully on other drives. I'm using a virgin A0A1 74850C LiteOn Drive - DG-16D2S.

Maybe I followed the tutorial wrong, but I did the Tray Half Open technique in preparation to dump the firmware. So I did try to get the Tray Half open. No smoke occurred :)

Since then the drive has been bad. Computer & JF doesn't see it... can't eject... XBox stuck at "Opening"

Again - this is before the firmware was dumped. All the tutorials assume you already have the key, firmware, etc.

Anything I can do for this poor drive?

Thanks!

Re: Is this LiteOn 74850 bricked?

Can anyone tell me how to verify if the drive is bricked or not? I grabbed a multimeter and started probing around. The 707 hole - where USB Xtractor needs to be placed - has no connection to any of the power points. But points around 707 do - I think even 709 does.

Is this normal behavior, or does this indicate something was fried?

Thanks!

Re: Is this LiteOn 74850 bricked?

so you dont have a dump of your dummy.bin
i think your pretty much fooked
have you tried powering the drive on and probing r707 to see if it will dump still
if you aint got the dummy.bin for the drive then you now have a dvd player instead of a xbox

Re: Is this LiteOn 74850 bricked?

I tried powering on the drive using the 360 as a power source. I couldn't probe r707, but could probe things around it.

One forum I read said the 360 doesn't power r707, and that's why an alternate power source is needed. But the JF guide didn't say this - it said the use tray half open if you don't have the other power. And I haven't come across this statement anywhere else.

Then on another forum I read that the USB Xtractor requires soldering the Liteon. Could be related to power not getting to r707. Anyway, again I only read that one time, versus reading many times that the USB Xtractor is all you need if you have the right Sata ports, and that it's solder free.

You know which is right?
1 - Only need USB Xtractor
2 - Need USB Xtractor & Power Supply (Not the 360), or solder the drive to provide power.

Thanks!

Re: Is this LiteOn 74850 bricked?

i use ck3 pro kit with probe to flash 7 series liteons
but i think if you bridge r707 and r708 you can get the key that way
