I currently have the X3 1959 BIOS but I want the new one (2519 I think not sure of the number). How would I be able to do this? Sorry for the uber noobness. =/

Get 2913 from the usual places ...then boot config Live (press and hold white button).
FTP the new extracted bios to you C:\ drive

From there note at the top what bank u have booted from and select bios flashing to the other bank..
browse you disk for the bios and hey presto

set you switches to boot either 1959 or 2913 when flashed

Yes upload 2913 to 5+6+7+8 then u can use switches to select which bios to boot.

Bank 1 (1+2+3+4) set switches on,on.off,off,off (boots 1959)
Bank 2 (5+6+7+8) set switches off,on,off,off,off (boots 2913)

The .ini file is for Xecuter Install Command System (XICS)...u do not need ...this is for scripting xbox installs (most suited to frequent modders/installers)

Put the skins folder on the E: drive
eg e:\x3skins

sorry to sound like an a**hole but you really need to read the txt files contained in the extracted rar. If you did, you wouldn't have asked some of these questions. Other thing is people need to utilize the "search" function of forums. In your case though, I want to warn you not to put the .ini anywhere since it has scripts that may format your hd so don't mess around with it. As for the rest, please read some recent post which has all your answers as well as the txt files that you have extracted. If you still have problem, come back and ask. Again, sorry for being an a**

agree with you nartac.. ..

but every complete answer put back into the forum helps everyone find what they are looking for that bit easier.

assuming they do know where the search button is?? ..LOL!

i figured this out on my own and got it workin ALL sweet with the fancy-lookin new 2913 on my 5+6+7+8 banks........but lo and behold: there are some bugs and xecuter is releasing a new build in a few days..

so i guess my real question is....now that my 1234 and 5678 banks are full, how am i going to reflash either of them? i know it's a n00bish question.
would i need to boot from the "backup" bios (hopefully FlashBios 3.0.1 is what's on everyone's backup?)

EDIT:
i think i just figured it out on my own...my backup has FlashBios 3.0.1....

is this backup ALWAYS there for every bank, and unremovable...in order to make sure that you'll always be able to reflash it? (besides if you reflash it with FlashBios 3.0.3 for 1.6b's in the X3Live config?)
it seems that the backup should probably ALWAYS be flashed with ONLY a FlashBios, because no other bioses are actually made for reflashing? or are there others?
i see in the X3Live config options for flashing both the main rom and the backup rom....but this leads me to believe that there might be a different backup for every single bank. is this true?

basically i got worried that filling both my 1024k banks meant that i screwed myself and i couldnt reflash anything without buying a programmer.....but i've come to the logical conclusion that that's exactly why there IS a "backup" bios. to fool-proof it against a hasty modder.

now i get it.

sorry for the novel.

shortned your novel to a paperback..LOL.

well u could do it as u describe...that will work
But then again you can just boot CFL (press & hold white whilst booting) say in 1959...
ftp the new bios to the HDD
select banks 5+6+7+8 under bios flashing...and pick the new bios with the browser that pops up.
This then will erase the bios on the selected bank and reflash with the new...

Backup bios is only needed if you don't have a good bios to boot from either bank

nartac... thanks for being the one ass that has to say what every other ass says when someone new at this asks a question. It's people like you that make others not want to ask questions until everything is totally trashed. If we were having a "post the obvious" contest", I'd kick you in the nuts as a prize. There are people that read, and read, and read the documentation with something and still have questions related to something. Forums are made for collecting information, not for people to come in and make comments like "Use the search n00b" or other lame comments like that. If you are not going to contribute to the thread, then shut your hole!

Eric, thanks for asking the question and thanks to all those who answered his question without judgement. There are people out there scared to do this due to the fact that it can cause a MAJOR headache. I still haven't flashed mine to the latest BIOS, mostly because of some unanswered, unclear questions that I personally have. I'm glad that we have people willing to ask, and others willing to answer without judgement to keep Xecuter the best chip, both for features and support, avalible for the XBox.

SilverTalon, thanks for your comments. My point is you should try to help yourself first and read the instructions. There are nice people who would spoon feed others but how is the person who they try to help learn. FYI, I'm a noob but I read and I learn. I help those here that I feel at least try to do things first and have problem then they come and ask. I have no problem with people like that but I do have problem with people who don't even want to lift a finger to help themselves.

I don't want to start a flaming war so I chose not to call you names. You have your right to an opinion and so do I. If you note in my response, I answered and warned him of something that I feel most people do not know and not clearly noted in the txt files but this other questions are there if he had took his time to read the readme.txt files and stuff.

the backup bios is stored on a seperate chip on the x3 so you shouldn't erase it. you can if you use X3 config live to update it and get it wrong but you would have to be an utter boobnoob to do that (now i've said that someone will flame saying they did it all to easily  )

sorry for the novel.

Just because both of your flash banks are full does not mean that you need to use the backup bios to reflash them. When the xbox boots up it just reads the bios into memory, therefore it is not actually being used from the chip. So you will be able to reflash as many times as you like whenever you like. Whenever you reflash one of your banks they are erased first and then flashed with you new choice of bios. Im sure you could flash the backup bios with another type other than the cromwell flash bios as long as it is 256K ie M7 or X2 4983 although ive never tried it. But you would be wise to leave the cromwell flash bios in the back up bank just in case you run into trouble and need it. Unless you are running a 1.6 version Xbox there is no need to upgrade to 3.03 cromwell flashbios. There is only one back up for all of the banks. An easier way is to flash is to just ftp into X3Config Live ,open the "admin" folder and just drop your new bios into the bank you want to flash, then it will automatically erase and reflash your new bios. You can watch the progress on the TV screen your Xbox is hooked up to.
