Is there a GOOD tutorial for flashing my X3CE?

Here is what happens.

I turn on my xbox and first select "Enable network flashing" And I get [nforce]nforce: Mac Address 00:0d:3A:62:EF:64 bad ability 0- falling back to 10HD. 10 MBS link. half duplex no link during initialization TCP/IP initialized DHCP failed falling back to 192.168.0.99

So I cant do anything, I restart my xbox and choose "Load bios from HDD (C:/bios)"

I get No C:/Bios found.

So I restart my box and choose "load bios from disc" BUT I HAVE NO DISC.

I have already broken an xbox with a mod chip, at the sight of this one working I was sooo happy, but I cant enjoy my damned chip unless I can flash it which I cant fking do. Am I doing something wrong? I heard I need to connect my xbox to my computer, how do I do that, what cords do I need? I would like a good tutorial on flashing my xbox.

If I am suppost connect my xbox to my computer, how do I make a physical connection to my computer?

ok buddy i know how you feel so listen up.......

1. things needed to hook up your xbox to your computer....a crossover ethernet cable ( take the two ends of the ethernet cord and look at the colors they should be on opposite sides......for example....if the first end has red orange blue and brown.......then the next end should have brown blue orange and red) (also if you have a system link that you use for lan parties same thing) , now you need go to flashfxp.com and download it, then hook up your xbox to your computer with the ethernet cord and use flash fxp to connect the xbox to the computer....to do this open up flash fxp then on the right side their should be a yellow lightening bolt , click on it and hit quick connect.......then type in your xbox ip address where it says server or url....i suggest using the one you flashed your xbox with....now type in the user name and password both should be "x3"...then hit connect and it should work.....then but you new bios in the c: drive and it should work......

To flash your chip, you need to have a hacked bios available from xbins. There is a tutorial on how to do this. You then need to make a disc which also has a tutorial. Or, you can flash via http which also has a tutorial. These things are pretty easy to do once you have read. Good luck. Also, ftp is for after you have a bios flashed.

Dam, ok I hooked my xbox up to my computer with the crossover, but how do I find out my Xbox's IP address? And once I connect through fxp, what happens?

when you choose network flashing your xbox says the IP address on the screen. The easiest way to do network flashing is to actually have a network (heh) and then your router should assign an address to your xbox via DCHP. The flashbios automatically picks up on this and tells you the assigned address. Remember if this doesn't work you can always burn a disk, make sure to name the bios to bios.bin before burning, and put a big dummy file on the disk too. (CD-RW's work for most, as for dvd's check which ones your drive can read before burning)

Forget the above, Im going to use a disc, I saw in the tutorial for making the disc that you need a "BIOS.BIN" file. Where can I get that.

I have all the steps done, including a dummy.bin, but where do I get the "bios.bin"?

Is the bios.bin the X3_BIOS, which is the name of the file?

Damn dude. You rename your bios file that you got from xbins to bios.bin You really need to read these tutorials and not just look at them. Make sure you use the right bios file specific for your xbox ie. X3 xxxx v16plus for v1.6 xboxes and the plain X3 xxxx for all others.

I am a newbie so forgive me for maybe asking some stupide questions. I just installed the Xecuter 3 CE with control panel. Everything works well. I am able to switch between the three modes. Oh my xbox is a version 1.0.
What are the four push buttons to the right of the PROTECT push button? and how to use them?

I have followed the tutorial on how to flash a new bios, using the CD and DVD procedure but it seems tha the xbox could not read the CD nor the DVD. I got this messages: "Please insert CD - Flashing Mode" then I got "Waiting for Drive" and after about a couple of minutes The disk ejected and ask me to: "Please insert CD - Flashing Mode.

For the CD I have used a Philips CD-R and for the DVD a TDK DVD+R.
Yes I have use all capital lettres and rename the file BIOS.BIN and used a 102,400 KB dummy file.

I have read here: copying-xbox-games.com/evolution-x-tutorial.php#hub that I should ISO the file and then burn that file on the cd. Other say I should be able to burn the file directly into a CD. I am very confused at this point.

I am still using the original hard disk, because everytime I mounted my new 200g hard disk I could not get the xbox games to work. The green message tel me that my xbox needs to be repaired. I understand that once I load the new BIOS this will be ok. Or is it?

Oh! the display in front of the xbox is not working. As I understand it will once I load the bios, maybe?

Should I load a dashboard after the bios? Is the dashboard an operating system? What is it used for?

Can someone help me figure this out. I have spent a lot of money at this point.
Thank you.

I connected my windows 2000 laptop with an external ethernet port up to my xbox, with an x3 ce modchip successfully installed, with a crossover cable, then i selected enable network flashing and it falls back to that static ip address. I tried to use flashfxp to connect to the xbox using ip 192.168.0.99 and the username x3 and pw x3 and it keeps telling me connection failed (no route to host). I am guessing i need to fix some settings or something to make it work, does anyone have any ideas on what I have to do?
