I realize you turn on the second bank switch, but in all the tutorials it is unclear about one thing, whether you can flash two seperate 512k bios and/or 1 1M bio and how do you select that? I would like two seperate bios 512 k each, 1 being the e2 multibios and the other e2 M8 5035? I have a v1.0 box and am new to the mod chip thing, I am a veteran TSOP flasher tho ;P
thnx,

Depends on how you are flashing. If you are using FlashBIOS to flash the chip, it always starts writing at bank 1. This will continue writing up to the 1MB mark. So if you want to flash bank 2 via FlashBIOS you will need to build a 1MB BIOS file containing the BIOS you want on bank 1 in the first 512KB and the BIOS you want on bank 2 in the 2nd 512KB. Use the X2 BIOS Manager (X2BM) to do this, it is available in the downloads section. There is also a tutorial linked on the front page. I believe flashing from EvoX works in the same fashion.

If you use the FlashX utility to perform the flashing you can select exactly what bank you want to drop the BIOS file in. Once I've got a chip past the first flash this is the way I like to do any subsequent updates. Find it on xbins.

Not sure what you are referring to by "e2 M8 5035," but there are at least two different BIOSes hinted at in that line. M8 is the current EvolutionX BIOS I think, 5035 is the version of the current (and better, IMHO) X2CL BIOS. For more info on what you can do with the X2CL 5035 BIOS check out the forum in these boards.

Thanx for the reply.

OK, if i can switch to bank two and get the onboard flash utilty, at 192.168.X.XXX, is it possible to flash with a 512K bios the 5035 one at that point. Remembering that I have a 512 loaded allready on the 2.6ce?

Thanx,

If booting bank 2 brings up FlashBIOS, flashing a 512KB file will *only* overwrite bank 1. FlashBIOS always starts writing at the beginning of bank 1, so any flashing done via FlashBIOS will always overwrite your bank 1 BIOS. You would need to flash a 1MB file to write to bank 2 as well.

If your bank 1 is currently loading a mod BIOS and you can run unsigned software then I would advise you drop FlashX on your box (or burn up a boot disc with it) and use that app to only flash to the second 512KB of the chip. This way you don't touch bank 1 at all, except for the initial boot.

I think I get the .jpg :)

 I just reflashed bank 1 with E2_M8_5035 and It works well, I think I will leave it that way, and If I need to reflash if I get an Update or probs I can switch to bank 2 to get the flash utility.:D Does the X3 allow for multi-bios boot? maybe my next mod will have that one. I took a lightning hit that wiped out my Game net, 1 router, 1 cable modem , and 4 modded (TSOP) Xboxes. I will be replacing them, but as early models are becoming more scarce I may just get into X360. I will wait til modding becomes better on them tho :).
I just noticed something, is FlashX a utility that I can load on the Xbox? and, where do I get it? You mentioned burning it to disk, a bootable one at that, now thats new to me, can you give link to tutorial for that? or is it really easy? I am feeling like major noob here, hehe.
