I remember what it was like first starting out in modding, it can seem like a mine-field of info, and sometimes the more you read the more confused you get. Im more than happy to pass on what I have learnt along the way.

It's not just to be high and mighty that we ask people to do the research. Understanding more than the bear minimum is a necessity.
Assuming everything goes exactly as we spoonfeed someone to hack their console then everything is fine. Those of us who have done quite a few consoles know that very often there is something unforeseen or particular that can happen.
When this happens to someone who has no background reading or knowledge then it often results in an expensive dvd player as the result.
Spend a few days reading and save yourself money and time in the long run.
To the original op read through the stickies for firmware hacks in the firmware section. Read the Jungleflassher tutorial because that's what you're looking for and it's what you will be doing. If you don't understand it then spend some time using the search button to explain the parts you don't understand. When you have half a clue as to what's going on then everyone here will try to help and you will know which questions to ask us.

this should not be a first post he said it himself beyond noob and who cares if his dads an engineer big deal you know how many idiots are engineers?i personaly know quite a few engineers that bring me there boxes for mods he should have read the forums etc. at least a bit then asked questions im sure everyone of us had to at least study a bit to get where we are.
If you need us to simplify it for you I can almost promise you, you will mess up on the install. Take it to a pro.

I have to say, as a noob to the forum there does seem to be a bit of a "high & mighty" attitude.
I'm very familiar with softmodding things (wii, psp etc), but flashing fw is a whole new ball game, and although there are some excellent tutorials on this and other sites, sometimes its nice to be able to ask a question to make sure that you've understood the tut correctly.
