I want to install a new HD with the Xecuter bios and with the original dash still working. I can't get Config Live to load when i hold the white button without the HD in. The only thing I can get to work without a HD in is the Backup on the Modchip. Please help.

So you've already backed up your old C and E drives, yes?

If so, then connect a new HDD to your Xbox, set the jumper to either Master or Cable Select and you should be able to boot to X3CL. If one setting doesn't work, the other will.

Not everything needs a step by step tutorial. Once you know the basics, how you do it is up to you:

1. Install chip and boot so you can access the Xbox via FTP.
2. Copy C and E drives from old HDD to PC.
3. Install new HDD and boot as per step 1.
4. Format new HDD.
5. Copy C and E files back over.
6. Lock HDD to new Xbox.

I didn't lock the Hard drive. Can I just create a new Xbox live account on the new modded xbox?

It's not possible to boot an unlocked HDD with the original BIOS. You'll get Error 05 appear. You must lock it if you want to use Xbox Live.

i think it is locked then, because i can boot the original bios. I guess Config Live does that for you automatically.

Not unless you tell it to!

disable the chip and if it boots to MS dash, you're good to go from there.

I managed all that using the tutorial from Xbox-Scene. It all works fine, except when I try to boot to the standard Xbox dash, I just get error code 13. Please help! The hard drive is locked and as far as I know xboxdash.xbe is still called xboxdash.xbe. Any ideas anyone?

It's got little to do with 360 modding, but PS3ers...OH

Someone (GeoHot) found out the PS3 root key and posted it online...
