How do i know which xbox ver and chip i have

When the screen loads it says xecuter2. most of the time some times it says microsoft.

I need to know how i find the version of the chip and xbox so i can trouble shoot my boot problems. I typically get the error of dirty disc even if its brand new. I had someone else install this for me but i am confident that i can do this as i do some light computer programing and lost of electronic repair. Thanks a bunch

ok www.xbox-scene.com to find out version you have
but i think your problem is the dvd drive as in older xboxs some have touble reading dvd

Yes, you have two choices. You can either buy a new Xbox DVD drive off of ebay, or you can modify a regular PC-DVD drive to work in the Xbox. There are tutorials on xbox-scene.com on how to do that.
