How do I turn my X3 chip on & off?

Hi

I purchased a light gun game (Silent scope 3) for my xbox that isnt working correctly & I read a few forumns to find a solution. Theyve said that the game has to be played with the mod chip turned off & directly from the original disc, not the harddrive. I dont know exactly how to turn my mod chip off (I have an xbox 1.6 w/ X3 chip). I thought you just hold the bottom power button for a couple of seconds & that will disable the chip. So I tried that out & I recieved this message on the screen:

Service required. call customer support with the top eject button flashing red, & the X3 swicth red.

I then realized thats not right & just rebooted my xbox & everything was back to normal, by that I mean booting up to the xecuter3 logo. Am I doing something wrong? Can someone please tell me how to turn my X3 chip on & off.

Well you probable overwritten your M$ dashboard with another, like EvoX. To fix, assuming that you still have the backups of the C and E drive you originally made when you first FTPed to you Xbox, just restore them. Also be sure to check that in the root of the C drive there isnt anything called default.xbe. I'm not 100% sure but I think the Xbox loads that, no matter what it is and if it is EvoX (which is most definately not signed by M$) it will give you that error. So just back up your drives and everything will be back to normal (E drive is for the gamesaves so you dont really need to back that up).

Also to disable the X3, you dont hold it for a couple of seconds... just 1/2 sec. will work fine, maybe a little longer.

Thanks for the reponse michael816. When I first installed my software i installed a system called Slayer auto installer. I dont want to delete anything on my harddrive, do you think it will be difficult for me to do (restore)? and would i still be able to keep my slayers on my hardrive? If you can direct me to some tutorials on how to do this Id appreciate.

I'm not very famaliar with Slayer but yes, what is it called and where is it located on your hard drive?

note: it is also possible that you renamed the xbox default dashboard which will make sad and mean errrors.

bah i hate slayers and will just make things harder in the end for you. Make sure your hdd is locked otherwise you wont be able to access the xb dash with chip off.

you also want to make sure the HDD is locked. There are several ways to lock your hdd; the backup bios(by pressing the eject and power button together), config magic(an app that can be downloaded from xbins), sometimes evox is set up to do it(I don't think the slayer install has the evox.ini configured to lock the HDD). You can also boot with the chip disabled and you can compare the error with the xbox error codes here http://www.teamxecuter.com/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=21379 to get some information about the error.

If your C: drive has xboxdash.xbe then you havent overwritten the original dashboard. The problem sounds like you have your hdd unlocked. When you try to boot with the chip off the microsoft dashboard checks to make sure the hard drive is locked and if it isnt it gets pissed and tells you it hates you (needs service=i hate you in xbox lang.). Make sure that it is locked.

Did it give you an error number? Error 5 is hard drive not locked. Check that and report back.

From the list he put up he doesnt have a default.xbe in his c:, nor should he, so he should be fine trying to boot either one, xboxdash.xbe or evoxdash.xbe

Need some help , problem with PRE ap2.5 games

ok 1st let me just give my setup lol, i have a xbox360 with a ms28 drive (spoofed as litoen because was back before there was a liteon firmware available), i recently flashed it to LT 1.0 (this is the latest availible for the sammy drive i am correct?), also have a blaster360 installed. Now here is my problem the xbxo boots all my older games etc all fine (i patch them with abgx and then burn them with ImgBurn, onto verbatuim and ridata disks , the ridata ones work perfectly i know this because i tried them in my friend box who has a liteon ). Now my problem is the xbox doesnt want to boot a few of the newer games such as Fifa 11, vanquish, red dead redemption (and i knw these disks work cz they work on my friends xbox perfectly) and i dont understand why? because all the other games i have such as JC2 , AC2, UFC, NFS shift all boot fine no problems? can anyone help me out? i have tried the POT trick (reduced it to 3.19k ohms) and rubberband trick with no luck, i dnt think the laser is burned out since it runs all my other games perfectly, when i put the newish games (possible the newer wave games before ap2.5)? in and get a "open tray" or "dirty disk error", i have flashed it 3 times with the LT firmware just to be sure dont knw what i should do anymore ? (i have ordered a litoen though so that i can put LT+ on it and then play my ap2.5 games bt that comes in 3 wks, i dont knw if im burning the disks wrong or what? iv burned them before and they work fine?
