Cut and pasted from a previous post of mine, which means the "SEARCH" function could have helped you. May not be EXACTLY what you're looking for, but should give you the place to start.

Ok, here goes:

If you're just using a xover cable (same thing as a system link cable, btw) then you need to provide STATIC IP addresses to the two computers (one being the XBOX).

I believe the flashbios defaults to what you've already mentioned.

Sooooooo Next you need to go into the network configuration of the PC. I'm going to assume you're running Windows XP.

Start -> Settings -> Network Connections
(if it's not there, go to the control panel and pic network connections there)

In Network connections, right click the Local Area Connection, or whatever name it might be, and pick Properties.

From there dbl-click on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)"
Next click on the dot beside Use the following IP address.
Then enter the following info:
IP Address: 192.168.0.100
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1 (doesn't actually matter, for this purpose.)

DNS Servers don't need to be specified either, but if you really want to put numbers in them, just put 192.168.0.100 and 192.168.0.99

OK all the way out, and they should be able to talk to each other now.

Open a Web browser, and go to http://192.168.0.99/

The rest SHOULD be obvious.

PS: if the computer Normally is used for internet. Make a note of what the settings were before you change them and change them back afterwards or you'll likely be screwed for access. Probably "Obtain an IP address automatically".

Hope this helps. Lemme know.

i did everything u said with the IP address's but in the FlashBIOS 3.0.1 screen i hit A on Enable Network Flashing and it comes up "no link during initialization. Half-Duplex. DHCP FAILED. Falling back to 192.168.0.99. I am using an Ethernet cable to connect my PC with my Xbox and i think thats the problem, i guess i need a cross-over cable but please post a reply on more tips, and where i can buy a cross-over cable. Thanx jOsiah, help greatly appreciated.

Yeah, a regular ethernet cable won't do. You need a crossed cable.

Regular ethernet cables go from computers (which the XBOX thechnically is) to Hubs/switches/etc

crossed cables go from computer to computer.

Almost any typical place you'd by computer stuff from should have crossed cables. A M$ Xbox "system link" cable is a crossed cable.

If you have 2 ethernet cables and a hub/switch, you should be able to hook a each up to the hub and that works the same as having the crossed.

If you have a switch you can use a regular ethernet cable, but from xbox to PC you need crossover.

Everytime i go onto FlashFXP and try to connect to my xbox, it comes up:

WinSock 2.0 -- OpenSSL 0.9.7d 17 Mar 2004
[R] Connecting to MY XBOX -> IP=192.168.0.1 PORT=21
[R] Connection failed (No route to Host)
[R] Delaying for 120 seconds before reconnect attempt #1

and everything is connected and all my passwords/login names/IP address's are correct, so please respond with some helpful tips

Turn your computer on, your XBOX should be off, then plug the cable in, then turn your XBOX on.

If this helps please add to my rep.:D
