I just installed a 250 gig WD in my 1.4 along with a fine piece hardware called the x3 (YEA!) and finally got everything running. Oh yea I'm glad I haven't signed up for Live these past year so I could do this w/o fear of the serial crap (thanx for the post). Flashed the 1959 bios got it working. Copied Evox to C: and everything was rockin. Then I wanted to figure out a way to copy my old gamesave from my old drive to the new one. This is where my problem starts. The x3 is still trying to boot from the drive and my old drive hasn't got anything to boot with. So how do I get my box to boot from the bios again. Do I have to boot the backup then reflash the 1959 again? or is there an easier way? How would I copy the gamesave from the old drive once I get it going (if its possible). And what is the MS dash I keep hearing about. SOrry NOOB Boob here.

hold down the white button and not just press it once when you first reboot the xbox.

well you shoulda backed up your e and c dirve before you installed you new drive. So just take that backup and copy the files to c and e. If you didnt make a backup then your guna have to slip that hdd back in there, transfer files into pc, stick new hdd in there, ftp contents to c and e.

ok I put the original hd back in and booted and after the flubber thing the xbox logo came up w/o the rox my box logo under it (while trying to push the white button). Then it stayed like that for about 10 sec and it displayed "Error code 01, Oops something is wrong!" and then it gave me codes:

5-9 HDD Error
10-12 DVD Error
13 Dashboard could not be launched
14 Generic Dashboard Specifed error
16 Dashboard files/settings incorrect
20 Dashboard was launched, but failed
21 Generic, unspecified error

And if I put my new 250 WD HD back in it boots fine.

System update on xbox live

Hey, last night when I hooked up to xbox live, it was asking for a system update, not a game update. I declined and signed out of live. Is it safe to take the update? I am on the new dash with lt + f/w.
