I purchased a X3 for my 1.6b, however I bought the wrong one. I have version 3.0.1 on the chip. Now it is installed correctly, but I cannot boot to the bios, or to backup. Only the MS bios as normal. Could point me in the right direction to flash the correct bios for my machine to the chip? Thanks

for v1.6b you need flashbios 3.0.3 as you know. Usually, X3CE has flashbios 3.0.3 installed on banks 5678 (off on off off) but if you have older version of X3, then you are in SOL if can't get the following choices. You may try to contact one of retailers and ask them to flash for you for a fee or if you know someone with modded xbox with hopefully X2.6 or X3 installed, you can try hotswap.

Yeah, after doing somemore reasearch I see that if I am getting the solid amber light on the eject button, there is pretty much nothing I can do but send the chip back to the manuf. for a reflash. Man, I really thought there would have been a way to do this without having to send it back...just to confirm. I have the HD led working fine, the MS (red) bios works fine. I can boot into the blue and get a solid amber light and the purple backup the same thing. No frag though, that has to be worth something.
This is a SE chip purchased from modchip.ca 2 weeks ago. I realized once I got it that it was the wrong one, but installed it anyway thinking that I could reflash it with 3.0.3 once I had it up and running. Nope. I guess I was wrong eh! I contacted them and they told me I could send it back on my dime and they will reflash for free, but if there is a way to work around this that would be better.

My Xbox is a 1.6 i got the same chip and did the exact same thing i flashed with x3029 just got amber blinking i flashed with alot of different bios then i finally got it to boot with x1959 and it worked. I will try 2914 and see what happens.i got confused on the se part too.

Is there anyone that can help me out to get the bios on the chip updated. I went thru mod-chip.com and i emailed them back and told them all this but I havent heard anything back from them. I asked them if I can send it back (Australia) from (USA). Can anyone help me out! Please....

I have one of the older chips and it had 3.0.3 in bank 5678... i am in australia but can't see why they would be different? You are flashing with the v16 bios yeah?

But did you try to boot from banks 5678? I don't think I caught the answer if you said you did?
