OK here's my problem.
i tried both 1MB banks and flashing freezes exactly halfway.
(same prob if i use a 512kB)
however, if i use a 256kB bank, it reaches one quater then freezes.

This made me think that i could only flash up to 512kB at a time.
so this is what i did.

i split the X3 bios into 2 pieces (512 kB each)
flashed them onto banks 12,and 34 respectfully.

Guess what, the flash did not freeze, it completed.
the bios does not work though(frags) when i try to boot from bank 1234.

help me out here.

My suspicions are:

1) EEPROM
2) EEPROM
3) EEPROM
4) EEPROM
.
.
.
any suggestions?
p.s. X2 and evoX M8 BIOS work perfectly.

Infront Of my Computer.
If I were you what I would try is to boot into the backup rom by pushing the power and eject button at the same time. The x3 should turn purple. then erase all the epproms you have flashed to the chip. Then reflash it leaving all of the switches to the left 1,2,3,4 all to the (LEFT). That should do it

Yes - when you boot FlashBIOS, above where it says "Init USB Devices" you'll see a line starting with Flash Type: ....

What does yours say?

It seems a couple of other people have had this. A replacement chip sorted it. Have you contacted your supplier as yet?

It's supposed to finish flashing and switch off like your other flashes do...

Kinect stops working after asked for update

Alright so I have a Benq drive in my old Xbox 360 that was banned a long time ago. When my girlfriend bought me a Kinect, I reflashed the sucker up to date and got every Kinect game I could get my hands on(lots of fun with friends). It's been working great, had no issues with dashboard updates until I just tried to play Yoostar 2. The game said it needed an update which is fine, most games usually grab the update off the disc and then it's good to go. Well, it didn't take the update and then said the disc was unreadable. Now, the Kinect will not even turn on to be used on the dashboard or even with Kinect Adventures(the legit game it came with)! Hooked it up to the roomates elite and the Kinect turns right no and plays Kinect Adventures(his isn't modded so I can't check the other games).

I tried clearing the cache, nothing. I was trying to avoid having to crack the case and reflash, anyone else have a Kinect with similar issues? Like I said, every game worked fine until Yoostar said I need an update and now the Kinect only gives me a red light.

Both boxes are running on 2.0.12625.0.

Is the drive a spoofed drive?
I have heard of dash blocking spoofed drives on the slim somewhere (dont know if thats true though)

Also hold the sync button whilst starting the console to reset the dash update.

while your 360 is off, press and hold the the little white sync button. press the power button while holding sync, and keep holding the sync button intill the dashboard appears.

that deletes a failed dash update.

The only thing i can see with that statement is that he has an old BENQ!
So it's deffo not a slim.

Yes, the drive was spoofed using Jungleflasher probably 6 months ago. It had been modded for probably 2 years before eventually being hit with the ban hammer.

I tried holding the sync button on boot but nothing happened. All of the Kinect games say they need the update implying I have the old dashboard prior to the Kinect dash that came out in November. Is it possible to roll back the current dash(2.0.12625.0) to 2.0.12611.0? Reading on the history of dash updates, it looks like a new one is supposed to be coming out soon, perhaps thats what it wants now?

This isn't a slim, but it might be having the same issues as the slims are. 2.5/3 year old non-elite box. Ya think reflashing might fix it?

Thanks for the replies btw, any ideas to try are good ones.

Update the flash maybe to make sure it's deffo LT+ 1.1
As for dash downgrade you cant if it's not jtagged!

Maybe try a drive that is supposed to be fitted (non spoofed)
