How easy is it to solder? Looking to sell my Slim and purchase a retail PHAT to RGH it myself. Just wondering how easy it is to solder and what will I need? I'm UK, if that makes any sort of difference.

I'd rather just sell the slim console as a retail tbh. I'm hopefully going to just get a xenon/zephyr mobo and do some LED mods first as practice but was wanting to know if soldering is really that difficult? What all will I need to solder?why sell slim? RGH it!!
& get some practice boards to play on! I started with these!

then I purchased some dead mobo's from people on site to actually practice on a real xbox board! Not saying its easy by any means, but being familiar with the tools you're working with, and actually doing the things you will be doing during RGH makes it a heck of a lot easier!
Not looking to RGH a xenon/zephyr, I know it can't really be done.. I was just going to purchase a xenon or zephyr mobo to practice soldering and do some LED mods on it!xenon or zephyr is the worst choice you could make
no stable RGH 2 for either, and hard to find rjtag stock.
RGH your slim, its a no brainer, and its basically the same points just laid out differently
Well, I've made my decision, the slim is being sold as a retail, someone else can purchase it and RGH itif you cant RGH it why bother thats no practice at all
wiring LED's will not get you practice on RGH consoles
slim mobos are pretty cheap to get, you can pick up a banned one for £30.
practice led;s all you want but it wont learn you how to solder to smd points etc.
when i started all thos years ago i soldered to any dead board i could find, then after a few hours did the real thing and never looked back.
watch a few videos on youtube for proper tecnique.
Iron, various size tips, flux, solder, extras... tweezers, de-solderbraid, cleaning pen!I'd rather just sell the slim console as a retail tbh. Damn, that's more than I thought I'd need!:eek2: Thanks man!Iron, various size tips, flux, solder, extras... tweezers, de-solderbraid, cleaning pen!
I was going to try to get a falcon on a lower dash to RGH1 it! If I can't find a Falcon on a low enough dash, then I'll probably just get a Jasper.Get a jasper, not a falcon, Falcons are really unpredictable with rgh2. jaspers are much better. If you can find an r-jtag kit, or dont mind waiting for the new phat hack, then by all means get a falcon.I have also had 3 falcons that got genuine rrod soon after installing rgh/r-jtag. so not the most reliable boards either. more reliable then xenon/zephyr but still not worth the money.... just my 2 cents.
