I have a 1.4 and 1.6 both softmodded and they have the same bios booting them.

and I just bought a pre-modded x3ce xbox dunno what the version is yet but when I flash it with the bios from the softmodded box's it runs (the flash I mean) then shuts down like normal I expect (never had a chip before), and when I go to turn it on the light just blinks green and resets a few times like its fragging.

and i've try'd reflashing it with different switch settings but it still comes on like it's fragging, so I was wondering maybe I don't have the right bios, could that be it?? or am I missing something else..

Finally!

I got into xbins (been trying for a while), snagged me a copy of the x3 bios (my chipp'd box is a 1.6 btw)

thanks a bundle, I prey I don't run into too many difficulties I can't handle on my own, but if I do, i'm happy to know there is willing help here.

..)

Too late for that now, after I made a backup of c/e I deleted all the files on the drive, and had it not been for the xbox having a chip I would be out an xbox now, but the problem with that was I couldn't ftp the folders back to the xbox only the files, so I had to go through and make the folders one at a time and then transfer the files and now the hard drive is softmodded, and the box is chipp'd.

and while we're on the subject of things not to do to your chip, when I first opened the package and plugged it in, I try'd to flash the chip with softmod bios, which i'm not sure where they first came from, but am sure they are not for a chip. and after changing and customizing the settings, I did indeed set the password thinking that it would keep others from changing my settings, only to find out that there is a glitch and when u set a pass and it locks out the chip..

for a little bit I thought I had done wasted my money on a chipp'd box only to have screwed over the chip, but this being such the great site it is, I found that the solution was to flash an older bios to the chip, remove the password, then reflash the new bios and u'r set.

I on the other hand decided to flash the second 1meg bank with the old bios whilst leaving the 1st 1meg bank with the newer bios, now I have a fully functional chipp'd/softmodded xbox, now I only need to get a bigger hard drive, and if anyone is still reading through this rant, I could use a little help in preperation before I go buy a drive..

I know which one i'm going to get, and it is lockable, but when I get it and hook it up i'm supposed to boot the chip and scroll through the menu and click the prerare new hard drive, now when I do that it will prepare the drive and make it useable for this xbox??

what about the locking part, after the drive is prepared I assume i'll have to load evox back onto it right through ftp?

does the chip set the hdd pass to the drive in the prep or do I have to do something else?

sorry for all the questions but my main goal here is to put a hard drive into another xbox (unmodded) and i'm still in the dark about how to do it, I assumed I had to have a chipped xbox (i've read u can do it without a chip) to format a drive and set the epprom of the target xbox to the drive in question then when the target xbox booted it'd boot to evox, did I get that right?

oh, and on a side note, thank god I can still flash the chip, in the process to get it up and running it's probably been flashed a few dozen times.
