How many games can I get on a HDD in the Xbox?

I'm thinking of upgrading my HDD in the Xbox when my XE3 CE chip arrives.

Apparently I heard that with the original HDD you can only get around two or three games on it.

I was looking at the new 400GB disks available now, how many would this hold?

Regards,

Mark

It depends on the game size, they dont have an standard size... there are games out there that got for example 850MB, 1.2GB, 3.5GB.... 7GB... but i would use an Average of 3.5GB each...

It seems to me that the AVERAGE game size is about 2.5GB. There's also a few GB of overhead for the HD, depending on what other things are on it.

True.

I would have to agree with kowrip: I believe average size is a safe 2.5 Gigs. Right now, on my 80 Gig, I have about 20 games or so, and I still have about 25 Gigs left. There are some large games on there though: Halo 2, Halo, etc. Halo 2. for example, takes up 5.2... I think (somebody else can confirm this). Halo 2 was the first game I backed up on my stock hard drive, and I was only left with, like, 500 Megs. So, really, there is quite a bit of overhead. I was left with 72 Gigs useful space on my 80 Gig after installing the various programs I needed, such as xToolbox, UnleashX, XBox Media Center, yadda, yadda yadda.

Hope that helps put things into persective for you. :)

Algebra for beginners:

x= HDD Size
y= Average game size
z= Size of other necessary applications (i.e. C:, XBMC etc etc)
a= Number of games that can fit on HDD

(x-z)/y=a

Cheers

apologies in advance for being facetious.
