I have an XBOX360 with 500G HDD connected in USB port. Just bought it last dec 2013, promo package mod unit with kinect and 500G hdd.It is working with F3 (Freestyle Dash).I can transfer or add new games using my windows PC in games folder. But now, the 500G portable HDD is almost full. So when my kids wants new game, I keep on removing (back-up on my PC) some games, then copy the new games in the xbox portable HDD.I am a beginner in xbox 360, I can only do copying games and loading the saved game in a profile using horizon, that's all I can do on my xbox.I have a 1TB Seagate Expansion Portable drive, my question are:Can I clone the 500GB to the 1TB then maximize the disk space? Do I still need to install F3 dash or not. I want also to copy the saved game and profiles. What softwares do I need? How can I format the 1TB?Please help. Thank you!

thank you playingmax.and will provide feedback or results later.how about copying the data? can I do it using windows explorer? As I remember, only four folders (games folder, freestyle, and xbox360, and the other one) and an *.ini in the 500GB when I viewed using windows explorer. I will confirm the files and folder.

I formatted the 1TB in fat32.
I am now copying the data of 500GB.

only three folders (FreeStyle, games, and Xbox360 (light shaded folder)) and one file launch.ini.

I copied using windows explorer first launch.ini, Xbox360, and FreeStyle. Three files in FreeStyle folder could not be found when copying, these files are t3sg0000., t3sg001g., and t3sg0018.. All three files are ending with period in their filename. Are those files could be copied in different way?

For the games folder, it is about 400GB, so I will just create a "games" folder in 1TB disk and will just copy 1 game to try. And will copy later all the games. Is this is fine?

Should be fine. I would suggest updating to arorura. FSD is good, but aroura is faster. also if FSD doesnt work because of those 3 files, you can always redownload FSD 3 from realmodscene.com

I Just tried the 1TB HDD mounted on my XBOX360 (only 1TB is mounted).
Here are the results:
1. Freestyle F3 is loading - ok no problem
2. I can see 886.6GB (931.3GB) 2.0GB (3.0GB) on top right of the screen, this mean the new HDD recognized by the xbox unit.
3. I could not load the profiles, the option are only to create new profile or download profile - not OK
4. I could not see the 2 games in the Xbox 360 Games tab. I also tried to go to settings to changed the game path, still no success. But I could see the games in file manager.

I also tried the mount the 500GB HDD (only), and still works fine.

Please help...

noted gavin! I will try that dashboard later. For now, I would just like to expand the hard drive capacity. I will do research later on installing dashboard.

I tried to mount both HDD (500G and 1TB) at the same time to do the copying of the 3 files. When the two HDD are mounted (usb0: 1TB, usb1: 500GB), I can see the profiles and all the xbox games on the tab. I also copied the three files from 500GB to 1TB using xbox file manager. And when I unmounted the 500GB, and use the new 1TB, back to the same problem, could not see the games and profiles... Any inputs?
I will also try to add a new game on 1TB that is not present in the 500GB, andd see if it works. If it works, I will just mount the two hard drives until I found the solution.

No success. The game from the 1TB could not be loaded :( I also noticed that in xbox menu, 1TB is seen as USB storage device while the other 2 (500GB, and internal?) are as Memory unit.Do I need to format the 1TB using the xbox?

should have formatted the 1tb in xbox after formatting to fat32...then transferred your profiles across using the original xbox dash
could also dismantle the 500gb and just insert it as an internal...if its a 2.5 inch...and use both hard drives

Sounds like your 500gb HDD has been partitioned as a memory unit to save your save games, profile etc. Yes, Do the same with your 1tb HDD and format it in normal dash to partition 32gb as memory unit for your game saves and profile also.

Talby71 beat me to it.

thank you talby and geek. I will try it.
Please confirm if I understand it correctly...
1. since 1TB has been formatted already to Fat32, I will format it again using original dash.
2. transfer profiles using original dash, this means both portable hdd (500gb and 1tb) should be mounted on the xbox via USB ports.
3. copy the files (freestyles, games...etc) from 500gb to 1TB, do I need to use original dash or can use Windows explorer? how about the "xbox360" folder? do I need also to copy.

still having problem...
I did the formatting of 1tb using original dash.
I also did the transfer of contents from 500gb to 1tb... so no profiles now in 500 gb.
But I could not copy all the contents of freestyle folder using freestyle dash (both hdd are mounted) from 500gb to 1tb.
When I use my pc on 1tb, I could not see anymore the 1tb using windows explorer...
now I am returning the profile/contents to 500gb. hope the 500gb still work.

any advise on how to proceed? thanks.

I already returned profiles/contents from 1tb to 500gb. and 500gb is still working...
now i will do again formatting 1tb to fat32, then format it using xbox dash. I am not sure if my pc can format it to fat32, as I could not see it in the win explorer after formatting by xbox.
original dash can only transfer/move content from one memory unit to the other, it could not copy only. is the copying of profiles/contents can be done by Horizon?

I did re-formatting the 1tb using xbox, then transferred FSD files from 500 gb to 1tb. I also did transfer profiles, games and apps,...etc from 500gb to 1TB using xbox. Then mount only 1TB, FSD is now launching, I can also see the profiles on FSD...
But now, my problem is I could not see the games in FSD, I checked manage game paths and the path is ok. But still cannot see games in FSD.
Did I missed some settings?

Now, I tried to mount both 500gb and 1TB together, FSD is launching, profiles are ok, but the games in FSD were doubled?
Any idea? do i need to install FSD on my 1TB? not just copying the FSD files from 500gb to 1tb?

After several trials, finally 1TB is now working on my xbox...
Thank you for helping me....

1. format 1TB as Fat32.
2. format 1TB as memory unit using xbox normal dash.
3. mount 500gb and 1TB on xbox USB ports. transfer memory data (Games and Apps, Profiles,...etc) of the 500GB to 1TB using xbox normal dash.
4. copy Games folder (few games only at first to save time, then later copy all the games) and launch.ini from 500GB to 1TB.
5. download F3 (freestyle dash) and copy the F3 folder to 1TB.
6. edit launch.ini Default launch xex path.
7. mount 1TB on the xbox, turn ON, then add the Game path usb0:/games/...

That's all.

For item3, does anyone here know how to back-up Profiles data. Xbox normal dash can only transfer from one memory unit to other.
Now my 500 gb will serve as backup, but profiles data were transferred to 1TB....

if i were you id source a hdd case for the 500gb and install it as an internal drive, move your profiles to that and keep the 1tb as FAT32 external to use all 100% capacity of it so you would have 1.5TB of storage available.
