Far from here!
I have read alot of the posts in here and just wanted to say a few words. Anyone having problems should go back to the tutorials and follow them step by step! I did and everything works perfect! I think most people are missing steps or flashing with the wrong bios and not paying attention. If you d/l the right bios for the x3 and follow the steps exactly then you will not have any problems.

So I think that if everyone just starts over, go exactly by the tutorials(Print them if you have to), then I have no doubt that the majority of you guys will be fine!

Just my 3cents! :O

OMG you two the tutorials are all over this board and in the posts, just bc something doesn't say "Tutorial" doesn't mean thats its not, this is a support board hence "support" that means everything is given to you in posts. Also most of you help is in the quick help section on the main page

would it be worth making a sticky giving the definition of a guide as "TUTORIAL" just a thought.

just my 2 cents but after 15 minutes of searching and reading I'd have to agree, there is NO X3 flash tuturial or instructions.

The quick help in the top right of the home page is for X2 not X3!!

I have done a few X2's and can Im sure figure it out but for someone starting out with an X3 how would they know to use SOME of the X2 instructions. For instance, how bigs the bios? what banks to use?

Dude, in the top right corner it says "X3 noobs guide"! They give lots of X3 flashing info including a complete switch layout / size / banks!! Below is a link to that very guide (and I think it was in a post above too)!

Desperate for some help...

Recently my xbox and every single one of my games was stolen. I replaced the console, and am slowly replacing the games. This time though I want backups. I'm tired of buying a new copy for $60 every time something happens to a game. I've been doing research and I will keep doing it, but I am in over my head when it comes to flashing the drive.

I know I have a BenQ drive, but I haven't yet opened the console so I don't know which one. I also keep reading about SATA cables and SATA chips but I'm not sure what I need, I have a laptop with Vista, and a desktop with XP, so would it be easier to use the desktop, or the laptop? SATA Cable or SATA Chip?

Like I said I'm desperate to get this done. ANY help at all would be greatly appreciated.

I would really like to get some help over the phone if possible, but chatting or emailing is ok too. [email protected] and I'll give you the number if you don't mind helping over the phone. PLEASE HELP!

Also, if your just going to insult me or call me a newb, just don't read it please. I didn't just post this because I'm too lazy to do the research, I've been looking for a while now and most tutorials start out by turning the SATA cable on, but I'm so new I dont' even know what do do before that or anything...

Re: Desperate for some help...

Ok where do i start...............

Lets get this straight you can only use a desktop, which eliminates the laptop out

Definitions:

SATA cable: SATA or Serial ATA is a special type of cable used to connect the cd reader to the computer.

Link of how it looks like: http://members.lotterypost.com/todd/images/blog/Sata_Cable.gif

SATA chipset: SATA chipset it is a chip on the motherboard of the computer that helps the communicate with SATA devices like cd reader and hard drive in your case cd reader.

So your answer is yes you need both sata cable and chipset to do this.

You said you know you have a BenQ so for the meanwhile will leave the xbox alone.

your steps right here:

1.Figure out wheather you have a SATA port in your computer or not.
Link to how the port looks like:
http://www.aeca.info/member/agent0/praetorian/hd/LP_UT_CFX3200/sata_p.jpg

they dont have to be yellow colour they could be any colour but thats how they look like and you would normally see a red cable connected to them.

2. Not all SATA chipset are compatible with the xbox cd reader so you have to figure out the manufacturer of the sata chipset and the model number.
Download the program in the link and run it, go to southbridge check the manufacturer and model number

Intel SATA chipset ICH5 to ICH7 are compatible, VIA chipsets are compatible, some nforce is also compatible.

********If you dont have a SATA port you are going to have to buy a
SATA card and put it in your computer*********

This is all i am going to say for now, cause dam its hard to teach people about computer, get back to the forum once you have the info and will continue on from there.

Hey, go to www.jungleflasher.net and scroll down and download the jungleflasher tutorial. It covers everything in there and will answer most of your questions. The benq drive is gravy to mod. Just read up on it 1st in the tut.
