Trinity slim,For when mandatory dash updates are out i'd like to disable coolrunner without opening the console.Currently i have coolrunner with nand-x,coolrunner qsb (without com port).Thinking of adding external qsb v3 adapter for flashing nand outside console.Question is can i cut ground & positive, extend wires outside console to switch to disable coolrunner? For better look i'd like to go through external adapter. THANKS... slim_qsb_installed.jpgqsbv3_ext_slim.jpg

Why dont you just remove the nor/prog swith on the coolrunner and run wires externally to another switch? But I dont understand why you would wanty to disable the coolrunner any way. The console wont boot if its not turned on. And to do updates on an RGH console, you should build hacked RGH ones yourself.

Title is misleading, the post says he ant to be able to read/rite nand without opening the console.
Could be wrong but all you'll need to do is run the nand-x wires through the case and put case back on and you'll be able to do that, have seen it done before but not sure where i seen the pics

If you have a RGH console. There is no need to open it up to update the dashboard.. you can do it with Jrunner while its connected to network.

Is the nor/prog switch just to program?Don't you need to remove the power & ground to turn it off? 2 things,1 to do updates don't you need to build images from original nand because LDV values cgange,2 some official updates will flash dvd drive firmware.

None of the above have any connection with an RGH image. As I said, speak to a pro modder.

I'm wanting to have FULL CONTROL of nand & coolrunner from outside console, like how you can disable coolrunner & read/ write to nand with demon.Except this is not dual nand..

You already have full control of the NAND with that setup. If you want to disable the CR, I guess you could wire up a 2 position switch to link POST_OUT to GND.

Instal a demon, then you can press a button and turn off the coolrunner and run stock, hit the button, it changes nands, and enables the coolrunner again, so you can run homebrew. No need for nand-x ext adapter, and there is a nice usb port for programming nands(both retail, and demon(RGH)).

This is a single nand boot,if it was dual nand i know i could have used Demon. The whole idea is to be able to do all the functions,read/write nand, reflash coolrunner,disable/enable coolrunner without ever opening the case again, until major repairs are needed.I found other threads talking about enable coolrunner using the demon with one wire (i believe).

Are you trying to essentially dual boot this system? ie, write your RGH nand so you can play offline... then when you want to play online, flash the original nand back to it and play? then reflash your RGH when youre playing offline again?

If so... Its a REALLY bad idea... while the nand can be written to repeatedly, there IS a lifespan on the number of writes it can possibly take...

Menethoran,If you have read any of my posts you would have read i SAID NOT A DUAL NAND BOOT & that i KNOW ABOUT DEMON DUAL NAND.I will repeat once i close up the console the idea is to do anything needed without opening console again. After reading LDVs and why they are important by Martin C. i took it you don't just rebuild the nand update like how you can a Jtag.LDV's (lock down values) change after updates (maybe not everyone)so you update the stock nand dash & rebuild RGH from the new update. This is why to disable coolrunner from outside console.WITH ALL THAT is why to not have to open up the console again.

Except for a glitch image it doesnt matter. You can build the latest dash that will work on jtag, rgh1, rgh2. all that matters is the image you create uses the correct CB, and J-runner does that when u load your nand dump. basically any nand you make with the current retail dump you have with that console will work on that console. so say your box is rgh1 or jtag, which will not work on a console after a certain stock update, but you can create the latest dashboard that will work on the old CB. if that makes sense.

I realy dont get it, you dont wanna dual boot your console but you still wanna disable the coolrunner. why?

if you run stock nand, no need to even install the CR. if you run glich nand, the console wont boot if you disable the CR.
there is no need to flash the nand by hardware to update it, dashlaunch and XeBuild does this for you over ethernet without any issues at all.
i have done my fair share of RGH installs, do you know how many times i have opened up a console to reflash the CR? none.

if you realy want to disable the the CR, use the demon timing file and 3.3V from the mobo via a switch to the demon enable point on your CR, but still i dont see the point of doing this.
