GENERAL HOW TO - External NAND-X Wired Header Install

Being able to write your NAND using the TX NAND-X without opening your XBOX has always been tricky. I have seen wires hanging out the back of the XBOX, a Ethernet port for LTP installed on the back and under the hard drive however I have never seen anything that was external and hidden for the NAND-X.

I have been using this method for awhile now and thought I would share it with the community. The end result is very clean and professional. Once the XBOX Hard Drive is installed the header is hidden and invisible.

Using this method requires only one modification to the XBOX by cutting one tab on the side of the hard drive trim piece.

How to install:

1. Cut plastic "tab" from the Hard Drive side trim piece.
2. Run NAND-X Wired Header through the top vent hole associated with whatever tab you decide to cut.
3. Solder wired header to XBOX Motherboard.
4. Refit the hard drive trim piece.
5. Push header down.

Please see the following images for the end result....

That look cool either, but you will have to take the grill apart. Also what was the other end to the cable? The connection to the nand-x?

And what are those type of cables called?

That is an old 9 pin serial port. Basically you can buy the female head on it's own with the pin visible. All you do after that is connect the wires accordingly, so that the connection is continued.

so instead of the big LPT connection, he has used a smaller Port, then made a LPT cable that is basically the same, so he can transfer the data. It just takes some working out. so long as the connection is continued correctly all works as it should.

manwithoutname could verify that.

I have seen this before, however keep in mind my post was regarding the NAND-X and not LPT.

However you could use a serial cable/plug and covert the NAND-X to use it, however it's much cheaper and way easier to do it my way with the NAND-X header under the HDD.

Yeah i know. Just thought i would let him know.

It wouldn't be too hard to do it either way

I just did this today and the cable doesn't goes that far down. The only problem is that the metal circles are quite sharp and they can easily damage the cable from what i noticed. But yeah so far so good, awesome idea.
