Is there any way i can flash the bios of x3 chip that has on flash bios 3.01 which does not work with the 1.6b boxes ? I want to use a hack bios.

Try other banks
you x3 should have been shipped with both 3.01 & 3.03 in different banks so that the chip can be flashed on any version m/b.

Thanks for your help, i tried (on on off off off) , (off on off off off) & (off off off off off) and all 3 say 3.01??what other options are there?
r u sure it's a a 1.6b...if it was the wrong flashbios then u wont see a flashbios screen???

Also are your switches good...u either have switches that r not selecting banks or an x3 with the same flashbios in both banks
check'em out once u have a bios on there
Once flashed with the switches set on,on,off,off,off...reboot to get x3 CFL ..
and then try setting them to off,on,off,off,off ,reboot and it should switch it back to flashbios..
set them back again to get back to hacked bios..

thanks but every time i try to http the green line goes all the way up like if it is working then it says flashing failed???
erm..r u sure switches are connected ok..
ie if u select a single 256k bank say bank 2 (off,on,on,on,off)

if he didnt have a version 1.6 then he doesnt need the v1.6Plus right (if he sees flash bios 3.0.1 is not a 1.6) try flashing the regular 3029 bios.
I tried the bank 2 (off,on,on,on,off) and i guess it fragment because it started and cut out 3 times then the tray open button went red. then i tried the 3029 and the same thing happened.????

(If you get a black video screen then you most probably have a new v1.6b Xbox (check to see if the system RAM is made by Hynix) and you have an older version of FlashBIOS. You will need to send it back to your installer to get it updated to FlashBIOS v3.03 or see if you can get a friend to do it for you. Remember FRAG = Faulty Install, Black Screen = New Xbox/Old Bios

OK Noob here ....and by no means an X3 expert.... I have modded a few in the past few months..... 1.0,1.1,1.5s all went with no reall problems other than getting used to soldering a board that seems to be set to distroy itself if heated too long.
What i have found is that the 1.6s likes to be flashed by HD or FTP. And the 1.6b's I have done seem to only like HD flashing... In fact while trying to flash them from my computer they both started butt stopped stating wrong file size. Butt worked when tranfered to the HD and flased that way.
Can't say why... but I have learned that its easier for me to keep on modded box open and ready to switch X3's for flashing from HD... That never fails!! It is also a fail safe way to make sure your solder joints are good. For I have almost had to toss 2 boxes because I kept resoldering somethign that wasnt bad. It was just a real picky 1.6b mothreboard.

Gotta back Woody here, had the same problem as bunny, had no back up bios, actually the wrong one. 3.0.1 on a 16b. Once I got it to flash I re-flashed the back up with the 3.0.3 to keep everything in order.
But, as woody mentioned, I could only flash if I loaded the bios onto the hard drive, not sure why, it works fine, so I'm not gonna worry about it, but FTPing would have been nice.
It goes throught the proper cycle, bu to no avail. Odd one.

ok so from what you'll are saying, i need to upgrade my flash from 3.01 to 3.03?? how do i do that ?
