With hitachi v40-59, you use restore.bat included in the v2.3 r2 firmware package.

For samsungs, you use mtkflash to flash your original firmware back to the drive.

Oke but how does the restore.bat finds my original firmware and flashes it back to the drive. And do i have to follow the same procedure with a v78 drive.

And could you please explain to me how i restore a samsung drive with mtkflash.

I have the original firmware but its not on the bootable floppy anymore. Because i flashed many drives i everytime make a new bootable floppy.

So when i make an bootable floppy where do i put the orig.bin on the floppy and what type of command should i use to write back the orig.bin

Thanx A Lot. I really appreciate it.

For Samsungs you have to manually rename your orig.bin to hacked.bin and put it in the \BACKUP\xxxxxxx\xxxxx folder on your bootable drive. Then you follow normal mtkflash procedure.

So i have to make an new map on the bootable floppy and name it backup

In that map i have to put mine hacked.bin(orig.bin)

And then i need to know what the command is to restore the orig.bin

Normal mtkflash procedure, follow Textbook's tutorial. It's just as though you are flashing hacked firmware.

Oke with the hitachi v46, v47, v59, v78 you just put the orig.bin in the X-LG folder in the map X23S-1337. And then you just click restore.bat.
Please correct me if i am wrong

With the ms28 you create an bootable floppy with xtreme boot maker v0.5.3 . The you make a new folder you call it backup/xxxxxxx/xxxxx/(X stands for serial number). In that map you put your orig.bin and rename it to hacked.bin.

The i boot to dos and enter xRead xxxxxxx xxxxx
the i choose my sata card
let it go for a minute
restart the computer and enter xHack xxxxxxx xxxxx
Coose me sata card en let it go

Please correct me if i am wrong. Because this is the procedure i follow when flashing an ms28. So how could this be the same

That's correct but you don't have to do the SAMREAD step, set the drive up like you said, boot to DOS with it, start at SAMHACK.

For v40-59 hitachi, you do not need your original firmware i do not believe.

For restoring your samsung, put orig.bin, mtkflash.exe and mtkflash.typ in a directory together that is accessible from dos. Boot to dos and type:

mtkflash w /m /sata orig.bin

That will flash your orig.bin to your drive. You will need to use the enable0800 disc or the bad flash method if you are using a current sammy xtreme firmware.
