1. Use original M$ hardwares when you flash the latest FlahsBIOS to your Xbox
2. FTP the FlashBIOS to your Xbox c:/bios (this is how I did it)
3. Hold white button on your Gamepad to power on your Xbox
4. Select "Bios Tools"
5. Select "Flash Backup Rom"
6. Select "Load 256k Bios From C:"
7. Select "Yes" on "Really flash the Backup Flash Rom?"
8. Select "flashbios_3.0.3-256k.bin" (flashbios v3.0.3 is used in this case)
9. Keep hitting "Back" button on your Gamepad to go to the top of the menu
10. Select "Power off"
11. Push DVD eject button and Power button to see the result.

Enjoy.

When you say original M$ hardwares, do you mean put back the original hard drive to do this? What if you are using an upgraded with M$ dash?

The original M$ hard drive is not need it at this point, you could use any brand name hard drive that can lock. Upgraded with M$ dash is not need it when you do the FlashBIOS upgrade.

(Below two methods are the most easiest that I found so far.)

1. From X3 menu you can flash the FlashBIOS v3.0.3 bios using "Flash Backup Rom" menu.

2. From FlashBIOS menu you can flash the X3 Bios 1959 using "Enable Network Flashing" option.

That's it.

So simple IMHO.

I used the X3 bios to upgrade my backup and now flashbios doesn't boot up. How can I recover it? I am afraid to upgrade my x3 bios now that I have no backup.

After installing the X3 I can't get my gamepad to recognize when booted into the X3 flash screen, this makes it impossible to update the BIOS. Anyone have any suggestions?

Did you forget to plug those wires back into their slots on the inside of the board... if your using the 1st controller port try 2, or 3, or 4.

Yeah, I made sure all the connectors are plugged in still and have tried all other controller ports.

The weird part is that the controllers work just fine when I boot with the chip disabled

Are you using a S controller or the original style? I have seen a couple of reports (and one first hand) where the newer s controller didn't work with the flashbios. The fix in both cases was to find someone with an old controller, use it to flash and after that the S controller worked.

IT WORKED!!! Thanks for all your help.
I'll have to remember that about the controllers for next time.

when I follow your instructions to upgrade the backup bank with Flashbios 3.0.0 to 3.0.3 I only get two horizontal lines. I downlaoded the .iso file, copied BIOS.BIN to C:\BIOS directory using FTP. I select update bios from C drive, then when I select \BIOS\ directory, I only get two horizontal lines. I am using X3 with latest BIOS 1959... Not sure what I am doing wrong.
I have a WD 200GB HD and everything else works fine. I don't really think I need to update the Flashbios, but I was trying it to see if there are any improvements /changes.

I have been modding and flashing about 17 Xboxes using X3 with v1.0 ~ v1.6b. Sofar I have found none that I can't mod. Simply the X3 is a GEM period.

PS.. I have no idea why some people have so much difficulties with this first rated product.
