I am trying to update xbmc (t3ch version) to the latest version.

What files do I need to backup, and how do I install latest (t3ch) xbmc?

thanks in advance,

Kelly (n00b)

You should also go into the MS Dashboard and under the gamesaves, delete the entry for XBMC.

I wouldn't recommend keeping the same xml file as there are changes to this. Instead:

Boot to another dashboard. Delete your current XBMC folder contents. Copy over new contents. Delete gamesave for XBMC.

As long as it's a full release, this should suffice (at least, this is what I do!).

First, start up your xbox and transfer your XboxMediaCenter.xml file to your computer. Second, start up another dash/app (or X3CL if you have an X3) with an ftp client. You need to do this so you can delete all your old XBMC files, otherwise some may not be deleted. Log into your box via ftp through your alternative dash/app and delete everything in your XBMC folder. After you have deleted your old XBMC, copy over the newer version from your computer. When it is finished transferring, copy your old XboxMediaCenter.xml file back over to the XBMC folder. On a side note, if you renamed your default.xbe previously, you will need to rename it again(i.e. I rename mine to xbmc.xbe 'cuz the path XBMC/default.xbe is too long for the X3). Another side note :) if XMBC is booting up but telling you there are errors in the xml file, you will have to edit the file that came with the newer version of XBMC to match what is in your old file, but you only need to do this if you edited your xml file the first time. If you used the default xml file the first time, you dont really need to copy your old xml file back to the XBMC directory.
