Me too. Im back on 12611 for a while but will give fbbuild a try this weekend to see if it is any difference to jtag tool. (Just gotta get my noob Jtag head around it first).
The only thing I did find was that applying the avatar before dashlaunch v2,21 worked for me after trying with $$ with no success.

This was with falcon board, alt wiring and bridged connection for updates.

Might be nice to add the locations of the launch.ini file for the dashlaunch v2.21 as its not included with the download from xbins and I havent managed to find it. I thought i found the right one but it still freezes the box after dashlaunch. Point me in the right direction if you could!

There is no need to add the locations of the launch.ini file it right in front of you when you extract it
If you read the read me also included the launch.ini is the sample_launch rename it to launch i'm not sure what your doing but it does not freeze buddy.

Installation
================================================================================
- have the required freeboot version installed on the console

- get the installer to a place where you can run it, and do so. Follow onscreen
instructions. The installer will prompt you if it needs to update the
freeboot patches and will give you an opportunity to configure the new
options

- edit and place launch.ini where you would like it, see note below as well
**See inlcuded sample and the info ini which describes the options allowed**

note: the installer includes upgrade paths for dash launch 1.0 users, it will
optionally update launch.ini files wherever found to use the new path names

There is no need for the extra Ping Limit patch which came as kxam.patch because the patch is already included in DashLaunch now and you can activate it while you are installing DashLaunch.

Re: How To Update Your JTAG To Newest Dash 2.0.12625 .0 & The Latest Dash Launch

^ Remember to mention that in order to enable this patch, during the installation of DashLaunch, when it asks whether if you want to change the already present settings, you have to select "Yes" and then select the Ping patch when asked. Otherwise, the patch won't be enabled.

Same thing as before M only thing that's different is you don't need to put kxam.patch on hdd1 because you said its patched into DL that's correct yes ?
so if I I place kxam.patch on the root of hdd1 and select yes to enable it on the new dash. it wont work? because thats what I've been doing and it hasnt been working.

you don't need kxam.patch any more so if its on hdd1 delete it then run the Dash Launch installer again and select yes to patch it again.

Re: How To Update Your JTAG To Newest Dash 2.0.12625 .0 & The Latest Dash Launch

Thanks for the tut, Johnny. Just used it to go from an xbr 8955 to 12625 w/freeboot.

Didn't have my original nand so I was a little worried. I dumped my current nand and used that in jtag tool to create a freeboot image. Crossed my fingers, flashed the update, and thankfully everything went better than expected. Updated dashlaunch to 2.21 and applied the avatar system update. Now I can play Mortal Kombat and Portal 2!

Thanks again for the thorough instructions, your help is very much appreciated.
