HUGE flashing problem

Ok I installed the Xecuter 3 and flashed it with the latest bios... with the first two switched turned to the ON position. I then installed Evox dashboard but was unable to create or manipulate files onto the hard drive, I could not find a way to unlock it so I thought if I removed the evoxdash.xbe that it would revert back to the X3 load screen after initial bios flashing, but it takes me to the MS dashboard now.

I tried to flash other banks and either it froze (i'm guess due to lack of memory on those banks) or did nothing. I tried loading evoxm7.bin from the hard disk on other banks but to no success.

Is there anyway to reset all of the banks back to their blank state? So that I can start over. I am in dire straits here and looking for any help you can provide.

I have a version 1.4 xbox.

If I could just ftp into the box and put that one file back on the C: drive everything would be ok as I have no unlocked the HDD.

quick update for clarity, I loaded the 256k backup and it is set on flashbios 3.0.1 instead of the 3.0.3 that I used to flash the rest of the banks. If that helps anybody resolve my situation. If there is a fix I'd love to know. I also have a usb card programmer, pheonix rewriter that I used to flash eeproms on say satellite cards, would that work to clear the memory and if so is there a program I need to return it to "virgin" specs so to speak?

I don't quite understand why you need to unlock your drive in order to remove files. FYI, flashbios can do the lock/unlock hd so you don't need anything else. Let me explain what I know how the process of flashing bios work. During flash, your memory banks get erased (thus no need to blank out the banks first) and then new bios data is loaded into the memory banks.

Flashbios 3.0.1 or 3.0.3 will work just fine for you v1.4 xbox. You can just load up whatever flashbios version is in your backup and then flash to the bios that you want onto your 1234 banks or 5678 banks.

ok I was in a hurry when I posted the first post so let me elaborate.

Installed Xecuter 3 chip etc

Booted up to flashbios 3.0.3 screen.

Flashed it with the 3029 bin.

It cut off after flash finished.

Turned back on to the xecuter dashboard like thing.

looked at the ip and password and ftp'ed into the box and copied evox.

Turned the autostart to x3 live config to DISABLED

Rebooted

Evox popped up... Yay.

Ftp'ed into box and tried to copy a couple files over to it (movie files).

Would not allow me to copy the files.

I did a few searches and found out I needed to unlock the HDD.

I could not figure out how through Evox so I decided to ftp back in and take out the evoxdash.xbe file that I read that xecuter automatically looks for thinking once it didn't find it that it would start the x3 live config again and I could unlock the HDD and then put the evoxdash.xbe back in its place.

Well now when I turn it on, it takes me to the MS Dashboard even though I get the Xecuter 3 Rox my Box splash screen at the beginning.

So now how do I get that file back on there or clear everything back out to default? Or get Flashbios 3.0.3 or 3.0.1 back to that bank so that I can reflash or install the x3 bios and then the evox bios again since I seemed to have F'ked it up.

Thats my question... please help.

Another update I tried holding the white button to return to x3 config live but it didn't work. How do I use the backup which still loads up to the flashbios screen to fix my other banks?

Again, where did you read that says you need to unlock your hd to transfer files. Honestly, it sounds you have problem with ftp setup rather than bios problem. To successfully log into your xbox via ftp, you need to make sure you setup the ip's correctly. The pw and username is "xbox" (without the quotes) if you ftp with evox dashboard. If ftp via x3 config live, pw and username is "x3".

answer to your last question, holding white button will get you to x3 config live. Holding both power and eject buttonswill get you to backup flashbios. But really, your problem is not bios problem from what I have read. It's your ftp setup.

Your right it wasn't merely a bios problem... I have it fixed now thank god, but it was an Evox problem.

I could ftp into the box from the x3 config screen, but holding the white button would not take me there.

I tried reflashing using the 256k backup 10+ times and the green bar would hang at either the 1/3 or the 1/2 mark.

Finally though last night about 4:00 am the green bar went all the way across and then I was able to hold the white button to load x3 config.

Even when I could get into the x3 config screen I could not get into evox, so I formatted all drives and started over and it works beautifully.

Thanks for being patient with me and trying to help me understand exactly what was going on. Problem solved and if anybody else messes up a flash... key is persistence... keep keep trying to flash over it if it hangs up.
