Huge problem with 2.6CE and xapt3r

I just attempted to install the 2.6CE and xapt3r on a 1.4... everything was fitted correctly. When I went to power on the xbox to test, the modchip started smoking! I don't know what the heck went wrong, everything seemed right. Is the chip completely fried? Any ideas what may have happened? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you killed the chip. You didn't hook up the alt 5v did you?

Nope, didn't hook up the 5V since it's a version 1.4 xbox.
