1. Will I get banned if I play burned games online?

2. What if I get permabanned, can I just create a new Gamertag?

3. Does the system make any loud noises after it's modded or is it silent?

4. How long will my system last?

I don't think you would get in trouble unless you dont advertise it on XXBL

Re: I am planning to mod my 360, but I have a few questions.

Aww, nice to see Kobe and Shaq playing nice together. :p

1) As of today, no, you will not be banned.
2) Probably not since I'm sure they would ban based on something unique to the 360 along with Gamertag.
3) There is no difference, you are basically only changing the dvd firmware to always answer yes to a yes or no question, that's it. Cheaper media in some cases sounds louder spinning in the drive than real games but that's the media, not the 360.
4) It's a 360, which means it could last years or it could have died by the time I typed this. lol. Seriously, there's no telling, but flashing the firmware has nothing to do with it.

Thanks for the answers. :)

Just another 1, How will Microsoft even know if you have your system modded?

They could presumably include some sort of check on the dvd firmware in a future 360 system firmware update.

A few more questions just popped in my head. :p

1. Can we still get achievement points?

2. Does the game freeze alot or will it play smoothly?

3. How often do people get permabanned from online? It sure would suck if I got permabanned. :(

1. why wouldn't you be able to? its an exact copy of a game

2. why would it freeze alot? its an exact copy of a game

3. there aren't any reports on people getting banned from xboxlive for having their 360's firmware flashed

I had my PS2 modded about 2 years ago & half of my games kept freezing.

So if the 360 does that, then there's no point of me getting it modded.

Is there anything else I should know before I mod my 360?

I need all the info I can get.

Re: I am planning to mod my 360, but I have a few questions.

Comparing backups on PS2 and 360 is apples and oranges. It was impossible to make a truly 1:1 copy of PS2 games because of the encrypted bootsector, which is why you needed to use Swap Magic or the Independence Exploit or something like that to get past the initial booting. The 360 is the exact opposite, backups are truly 1:1 copies and in fact must be 1:1 copies in order to run.

Whether everything runs smoothly is completely up to you, but I found it to be a very easy process, just take your time and follow Textbook's tutorial to the letter and you should be fine.

I'm actually not modding my 360 myself. I'm gonna get someone to do it for me.

I'm too scared to do it myself. :(

Ok, I have 1 final question. :p

Just say I'm playing a sports game. Can I download the roster update while using a burned game?

As of today, yes you can do everything online that you could with the real disc in. Tomorrow and beyond is anyone's guess.

If you keep in mind that when using a modded 360 on xboxlive expect to be be banned at some point.

But like bigd23 you can use live as normal.

Banned for how long? Is it permabanned? :?

If it's not permabanned, how long do bans usually last?

Another question is, if I get banned, how will I still be able to use XBL normal?

Re: I am planning to mod my 360, but I have a few questions.

Shaq, I dunno what you mean.. there's only one xbox live. If you're banned, you're banned.. but here's my question: If you do get banned.. I'm assuming they would mark your 360 somehow? Does anyone know for sure? Is that how they did banns on the orignal xbox? And does anyone know, I know it's hard to say because no one has been banned for using a modded 360 yet. But do you think if you switched your firmware back to the orignal, would you still be able to go on live? or would they just have your 360 marked somehow and wouldn't let you connect? I'm gonna get my 360 modded either way, I'm just curious what my options will be if/when I get banned.. Thanks!

Re: I am planning to mod my 360, but I have a few questions.

Nobody knows for sure, but it won't be a half hearted ban but at the end of the day it's all speculation.

All I'm saying is if you hold Xbox live in such high regard don't mod your 360 because you will be banned at some point in the future.

No more questions lol about banns as no one knows for sure but it will happen I would put money on it.

Re: I am planning to mod my 360, but I have a few questions.

With the original Xbox, the system was permanently banned based on serial number / mac address / eeprom. There were ways to get the box back online, but you had to use another Xbox's eeprom .. essentially stealing that Xbox identity. This is not possible with the 360, so any bans would REALLY be permanent.
