Well, I have an Xecuter 3 CE on a 1.1 Xbox and it was working fine for weeks, then, the smart guy that I am, I decided to flash another bank with the EvoX bios, to see what it was like, got some error, then decided to FLASH IT OVER THE XECUTER BIOS. Now it just boots to the EvoX dash and says EvoX is the bios, and obviously, I can't get to X3CL. So I decided to d/l Auto-Installer 3 Deluxe and try to flash the bank with the Xecuter bios, but I get the following message:

Manufacturers ID 09 Device ID 00
Flash Type Winbond W49F020T
Error file size error

1. Does anyone know what's wrong?
2. Can I somehow flash the BIOS with the EvoX dash?
3. If the answer to #2 is no, then can I flash the chip somehow using the EvoX BIOS?

Thanks so much for the help! :D

EDIT: Sometimes (depending on which bank I choose) I also get this error message:

Manufacturers ID 20 Device ID 20
!! Unknown Flash Type !!

Maybe Thursday is idiots day as i am having a very simillar issue.

v1 + X3 - had XBMC working (ish) a few months ago but recently decided to restore the x3 to its defaults so i could start over and install Auto Installer Delux as this seems to be more up to data than the previous Slayers that i used.

DIPS set to on - on - off - off - off - enabled network flashing, browsed to xbix IP via http and uploaded 3294.

Xbox screen shows the progress indictor then turns off as it should - but when i boot it just sits at the flubber + rocs me box logo.

It's been that long since i did this last i cant remember if thats how it should be - i seem to remember being able to access a x3 bios config screen.

Having now spent all day (so far) reading i think it's time i asked for help.

Your xbox froze to rox my box logo because it's looking for the dash files which is probably corrupted. Reboot and hold the white button to access X3 Config Live screen and FTP dash files or if you have the auto-installer you can use that to boot and install files.

Yer i was thinking along the lines of the dash being corrupted - but wasnt sure what i had to delete - so i'd like to just zap everything and start again.

I've made some progress over night and have managed to get build 2913 running BUT it's asking me for a password (which i didnt previously set)

I've read for hours and tried all the "how to reset your password" posts on here but nothing helps unfortuantly.

Am wondering if it would be quicker to buy a new x3

Tip:
Flash X3 Bios aka X3CL
Once this is up you can do everything from there and don't need to change switch settings to flash to other banks. You can even boot to the bios without changing the switch settings.

FTP and go to the admin directory and you can flash the chosen banks there.
If you can HTTP flash, you might as well do this. Much safer and easier.

Resetting the password is not difficult, don't waste your money thinking another chip will solve the problem.

Maybe i am getting confused now - isnt X3CL justthe newest version of the x3 bios? - seeing as i have a v1 box it seems that v2913 is the only version that works for my xbox version, and from what i have found it's strue as any other more modern bios just sit at the rocs my box logo after flashing.

X3 Config Live (X3CL) is also known as the X3 Bios.
It's always been X3CL, the newest version/release is the highest number which is 3294.

It hangs at Rox my box logo if the password is set for the latest version and you said with 2913 you get prompted for a password. So you need to get rid of that by unsetting the password if you want to use the latest version.

Yer i'm struggling to get the password reset - So far i understand that holding down xyab while rebooting will zap the epprom - which will then allow the re flashing - which then apparently allows the password to be removed.

The problem i have is that the xyab trick doesnt work - or maybe i'm not doing it right or i'm not holding the keys down for long enough.

I've tired - press down (and hold down) xyab and turn on box - this displays the password entry screen but as i've not set a password i dont know where to go - i've tried "xbox" and "x3" - they dont work.

How long do i have to hold down the xyab keys untill it reboots ? - should i be booting the box THEN holding down the keys once its booted.

It doesn't seem to work with a password set, it did reset my settings after i typed my password.

You need to use x3_erase.xbe
