My friend has an xbox with an x2 chip not sure which one. The original m$ bios is shot he said. It will boot to the cromwell bios that came on the chip. Are there any options?

If I flash another bios to it (xecuter of course) my understanding is I could use all of the mediacenter functions etc but I could not play games is that correct?

Or is the scenario such that a new bios will fix it I just cannot play on live. That is not a problem I don't anyway.

The fact that it is booting flashbios has nothing to do with the Microsoft dashboard. Try the other bank.

You would have to download and install Xbox Media Center, and then you can have all the media functions. And you can still play games.

If you want to play on live simply turn the chip off. You will have to be using an original game disc.

The issue as my friend told me is that it will not boot to the original ms dash. That part is fubared. If you turn the chip off no boot. I have not seen it though.

He says that it will boot to the flash bios with the chip on just fine.

I was just wondering what that means.

I apologize if this sounds like gibberish, I am sorta playing telephone here. lol.

It means you need to flash a hacked bios (X2 5035) to the chip, and download an auto installer and rebuild the drive.
