I still need to buy a new harddrive i know that. when getting a new harddrive, is it a plug and play deal? do i have to move that white rubber thing in the back to slave / master?

when installed the mod chip with the solderless adaptor, all i gotta do is push down and thn insert the d0 wire.

when i turn on my xbox, the flashing screen apears... am i getting this correct to what i have reserched?

when that appears, i have a crossover cable, i can plug my xbox directly into my computer ... what do i download to install? FLASHbios 3.03? and thats it?

ive read a few other things and there are a few people who have downloaded other things into banks? what r banks?

and if the FLASHbios 3.03 is all i need, if i get it dont correctly, all i would need to do is turn on my xbox and i would b able to copy dvds onto it? and cds?

meaning, does the flashbios 3.03 install everything i need to burn dvds onto the new harddrive and such?

maybe im not understanding everything ive researched...and if i am..pat me on my back and tell me.

Flashbios is pre-loaded on your chip. download the latest X2 bios.

If you install a larger hdd (note that you don't have to) Set the jumper to cable select.

Installing the xapter is pretty much as easy as putting it on screwing it down and inserting the D0 wire, yes your correct.

Correct again, once flashbios appears on your screen you can connect the crossover cable and flash via http.

Banks are where you flash your bios too...

The bios that you install will not give you any applications. If you want a dashboard or programs like DVD2Xbox then you need to download them as well and install them via FTP.

You could also install the progams using Slayers Auto Installer which would probably be easier.

In the guide of installing the xecter 2.6 chip it tells you all these things about soldering. I am buying a Xecuter 2.6 CE w/ Programmer with Xapter. Do i only need to install Xecuter mod chip and then install the Xapter. After that do i have to do anything else?

Also does the crossover cable come with the Mod chip or do i have to buy that seprate? i'm going to buy the chip from this site >> LINK

The only soldering you should need to to is the HD activity light, and the LAN activity light.

As for the crossover cable, I doubt your chip will come with one of these (I may be wrong!).

If you have a 1.6/1.6b make sure you get the solderless adaptor that works with that version Xbox.

So is the crossover cable required or is there a alternative?

Is there guide where i can see how to solder the HD activity light and LAN Activity light?

I thought the whole point of me buying a solderless chip is that i wouldn't have to do any soldering.

The crossover is required for direct PC to Xbox connection.

The HD & LAN solder points are listed in here (about half way down) http://www.teamxecuter.com/x3/tutorials/x3pin1015.htm.

The chip will work pefectly fine without these LEDs wired - solderless adapters enable your chip to work (without soldering) - the LEDs are an extra!!

when getting a new harddrive...how do y get all the save games from your old harddrive, onto your new one?

which hd is better than the other? how big is decent? installing the chip isnt my issue right now, i think getting the harddrive and all the program in there is my issue.

Once you get your chip put in, connect your Xbox to your computer via a network connection. Then FTP into your computer, and copy everything from the C and E drives of your Xbox. Put your new hard drive in, format it, and copy everything from your computer back.

If you want to go on live, make sure you get a lockable hard drive. You can find a list here: http://xboxdrives.x-pec.com/?p=list

The size depends. For someone that actually owns the games they have on the drive, 160 should be large enough.
