So I received my x3 yesterday and promptly beagan the install....I'm not at all new to modifying xboxes...been doing it since the first xecuter came out...about...anyways i got a v1.6b box a month ago for my birthday and now i'm in unfamiliar territory...no matter how many times i solder...desolder...and resolder the pcb for the rebuild to the d0 point...i still get this result...quick power tap...M$ bios...long power press...M$ bios...power and eject press...frag...i hope i didn't fry the pcb's d0 trace with the desoldering braid...any ideas anyone...P.S. I'm broke.

okay...i resoldered everything...now i'm getting a blue x3 led on the switch when i press the power button quickly...no video though...when i hold the power button for a second...it start to do the on off frag deal...but on the second of what would normally be three power cycles...the x3 logo changes from red to blue and it never frags...still...no video...and when i hold the power and eject...purple...but again...no video...any ideas?...please!
welol it turns out that the light turns amber no matter what after 30 seconds...no video no matter what i do...so far i'm having an ultra sh*tty day...I would very much appreciate any input whatsoever as to what to try next...it would make my day
You say its a 1.6B correct. If so you will need to have a flashbios level of 3.0.3 or you will get no video.
I've heard that some suppliers might be shipping X3's with half 3.0.1 and half 3.0.3. If you're lucky enough for this to be the case, setting the bank select switches to off,on,off,off should bring up flashbios 3.0.3.
If thats not the case, you have two options:
1> Have someone with a 1.0-1.6 flash it in their xbox
2> Contact your supplier about getting it flashed with 3.0.3

there is a pretty simple fix somewhere on the forums that has to do with an exploit/softmod to reflash the x3 chip
well it turns out after all of the desoldering and resoldering i did...i broke a trace on the lpc rebuild...so i completely removed the modchip...and the d0 wire...figuring i could go to radioshack...pick up some wires @ hackradios (radioshack) and do it the old fashioned way...keep in mind, I left the pin header on...also i left on the hdd led, the lan led, and the alt 5v wires on...i figure as long as the d0 isn't grounded the xbox should boot normally...so i hooked up the dvd rom drive...the hdd...and all the controller ports and sh*t...assuming the xbox would work normally i then intended to play halo 2 and whip ass for the rest of the night...but to my delight (sarcasm) it powers on...then off...then on...then off...then on and...frag...no video the whole time...do I need to buy a new mobo?...could i have fried my box? somebody...anybody...please god...if anyone has any insight whatsoever...reply...reply...i say again reply to this post...I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE THIS MOBO! i need to know if my xbox days are over...alternatively i have a v1.2 mobo i botched by switching it to NTSC-J (the japanese standard) is there someway i can buy/build a device that would allow me to see what i'm doing in order to see what i'm doing to mod that one? also it should be noted that although i don't believe i changed anything else about this v1.2 mobo...when i power it up i get sound...no video (due to the incorrect standard it now uses) and the eject button lights turn half red and half green...at the same time...not flashing...not amber...just as i said...half red and half green...any ideas...please for the love of god speak on it!
this might be a stupid question, but did you put any elec tape on your connections and the bottom of pin header? could be grounding against the case. I haven't got to do a 1.6, but this was common on most 1.4 installs.
I did at first...to hold the pinheader on an later the rebuild when i was soldering those pieces...but have long since removed the tape...could it still be f**king with sh*t...if so how do i fix...i just want to play halo now...i miss it...i'll worry about modifying later...how do i get my box up and running again?
where's martin C when ya need him...I need a PRO...two useless modded xbox's are not as cool as 1 working stock one
Are You still having problems? :?: If you are, can you get the original xbox dash to boot? When you try to, what error code do you get? 13 or 16, I just finished a 1.6 of my own, had a similar issue. If you have a meter, I can trace out my lpc and at least you'll know if the trace is 100% fixed.

I have a Hitachi 047 which is spoofed as a 0078 or 0079, To flash it should I treat the drive as a 047 or a 0078/9? (using the usual methods)
Additionally does anyone know when the next ban wave is likely to be?
Also is there an undetected FW for Hitachis as I can't find a LT version for it, if so when do you think it will be released?

you need to find out whether its 78 or 79 because the flashing method is slightly different with the 79 you need a audio unlock cd
the ban waves usually arrive around november time
there is no undetectable fw for the hitachi drive also i dont think there will be one released as the drive is old now and too many different revisions to cover.

I could just use this for offline play I guess as I don't use Live really anyway,
