Are you, perhaps, in the Cromwell FlashBIOS and using a Wireless controller?

no wireless controller ive tried all 4 of my contr. no luck with any i just finished installing x3 and was pretty pumped when it started just fine and then i have this crap

Open it back up and make sure you connected the ports back.....You never know. :?

i have the same problem... can get to flashbios screen but then nothing..the contoller does not work cannot get it to highlight any other option its just stick on flash from hdd ...just had a quick check to see if the port lead was out it wasn't...xbox works ok when x3 disabled and game plays ok with controller...have reinstalled x3 ,redone all the soldering etc...i think my board is ver 1.1...am stumped...

try this and see if it helps:
unplug all controllers with the xbox off
startup the xbox (with NO controllers plugged in)
when you are at the flashbios screen plug in controller in and see if you can select anything with the dpad.

guess what it turned out to be ..the controller ,the controller i was using was a brand new one but it was not a genuine xbox controller ...i did what HoBoZ told me to do switch the xbox on without the controller in and the flash from lan was highlighted now, when i plugged the controller in it moved down to flash from hhd and then same as before...just been and brought a brand new genuine xbox controller tried it and
it worked... just flashed the x3 to flashbios v 3.03.

Here is an SF4 Fight Stick just completed...real guide button...rumble activated led's below the panel...external battery pack. Wiring could be a little cleaner but it is my first so here it is!!

Haha that's pretty awesome man. Definitely unique and it looks like you put a lot of time into it. I don't think I'd personally use one of those (I never cared for arcade controls) but it's definitely cool.

I put in about two weeks work and I prefer these over the controller for fighting games. I also enjoy building stuff like this too!!!
